Thanks for reacting to Morgan James. I hope you like her. She put her whole body and soul into this one. Other covers by Morgan that are fun are "I really don't care" and "Barbie girl" although they could also be considered a showcase for Tambourine Guy. She and Haley do a duet covering "Dear Prudence". The two of them are the most underrated singers out there today, in my opinion.

The reason Haley Reinhart sounded so jazzy, and the style of this was older is that the idea behind Postmodern Jukebox is to present today's hits in yesterday's styles, like jazz and swing.

Anyone notice the guy playing the cello then starts plaving it like a guitar then switches back to using a bow..I notice that Morgan starts like getting herself into like a trance right before she belts it out. She seems to really get into what she's sing.

Not exactly right out of high school. She wasn't accepted right away but was put on "standby" if you will. She kept pestering Julliard, sending samples and constantly contacting them. Morgan wasn't going to take no for an answer. After a bit, Julliard said they'd make an expectation and add one more singer. She says she doesn't really know if that was true or if someone backed out. Doesn't really matter. Julliard made a wise decision.

I'm a Home fry!!! and was turned onto Morgan James through reaction videos and chat! I must say Morgan James vocals for me is such PROFOUND MOMENT in music for me!!!!! I'm speechless!!!!!! I dare to put her vocals up there or above with the likes of "Whitney", "Mareaha", "Athretha"!!!!! Morgan received a Bachelor of Music in Opera at Juilliard School of Music. After a while she decided that opera was not for her and chose this path. She has appeared in many Broadway shows released some songs. Steven Tyler must be proud. "All About That Bass" with Haley, Morgan and Ariana Savalas (Telly's daughter, KOJAK TV series) all together in a very fun complete re-make of the song is a must see. Haley and Morgan have completely different styles and, imo, the best singers today and have been for years. Too bad neither has the fame of say Cardi B or Miley. Who would you rather listen to? In the case of Morgan she used to belong to a major label in the beginning of her career. During that time she realized it wasn't for her she couldn't really do what she wanted. I guess you could say she wasn't intrested in selling her soul for fame and money. Along with her husband they have their own label.

For my money Morgan James is th best female singer on earth. Maps will probably be the most requested from her, but there are so many more great songs she has covered, in the PMJ style of totally flipping the script. you seems to like that 80's and 90's R & B sound so let me suggest her cover of Jealous and of course she does Aretha proud When she breaks it down to just her and an acoustic guitar, priceless, or better yet, how about her plus a tap dancer providing all the accompaniment on Shut Up and Dance. but my all time favorite is Rather Be where it's her and 3 back-up singer and an acoustic guitar player sitting on a couple of couches and just having a lot of fun. You need to check out Maps, and It's a Mans mans world. Both featuring Morgan James and PMJ. Little known fact, Morgan covered Princes' 'Call My Name". Historically, Prince NEVER authorized or gave anyone the rights to cover his songs. She covered it soo well, that Prince himself gave him her blessing. THAT video you need to check out. Morgan is a powerhouse and, a smoke show to boot.

@@darrellelyons9769 I'm fuggin' 65 years old. I remember Dream On when it first came out when I was in high school in 1973. There's absolutely no reason for you to tell me this. None. Steven Tyler is great. Him singing Dream On is great. Morgan James covering Dream On is great! In fact, I had to listen to Morgan's cover three times before I could get Steven's voice out of my brain. BUT, I've never gotten frisson listen to Steven. Personally, now that I'm older and more mellow, I prefer Morgan's cover over Steven's original. NOT saying a single negative thing about Steven, so don't try to read that into it. I'm only saying that I like Morgan better.

I'm sure others have mentioned to you that she was trained at Julliard (in opera, but she's transisted to more popular songs). If you continue with PMJ now or even later check out "All about The Bass" in which Morgan sings in the song with Haley (2 for 1 treat)...it's also a jazzy feel and so much fun !! On a more serious side, Haley and Morgan perform a duet just casually sitting on a couch performing the Beatles song "Dear Prudence"...on a negative side, the guitarist in that video I think seemed very dissonance to me and could really have been done without him.. If it wasn't for each of their different tones, you would have thought their harmony between them was a single voice...INCREDIBLE !!

Morgan’s breath control is out of this world. You can kinda give someone like Floor the benefit of the doubt, at around six feet tall she’s a big person. Helps to belt it out when you naturally have larger lungs and more air on tap than the average singer. But Morgan is a wee little thing lol. All that power and duration coming out of a tiny little frame like that is just bonkers.
