At one time, Queen was the biggest band in the world. They were the highpoint of the Live Aid concert in the mid 1980s. One of the greatest live bands ever. They could perform in front of 100,000 people, and every person in the audience felt the band was performing just for them! Incredible musicians and performers (and the guitarist, Brian May, has a Phd in astrophysics! Seriously!)

The guitarist - Brian May- made the guitar he plays when he was a teenager. He calls it 'The Red Special'. It's made from pieces of fireplace, knitting needles, buttons and various pieces he could find. He gets the unique sound by picking with coin on the strings.

I've been revisiting Queen on youtube because of the up coming film. I had almost forgotten how brilliant they are and I'm just loving this so I've subscribed. Any song you do I will enjoy. Just to add, the video for These were the days' was the last time Freddie performed before he died. It seems so personal and like a goodbye to all of us.

I'll echo the others -- Queen Live Aid. These studio recordings are excellent, but Queen really takes it up to another level with their live shows. Freddie Mercury knew how to work a crowd like no other, and his mastery of the stage is something to behold. Great reaction! If you would like to react more on Queen, I think "the show must go on" should be the next song, if you haven't hear it. But If you want to learn more about them, you have to experience them live. It would be nice a reaction to Queen - Dragon Attack (Live at Milton Keynes Bowl, 1982) Queen - White Queen (A Night At The Odeon - Hammersmith 1975) Queen - Stone Cold Crazy (Live at the Rainbow) and Queen - Live at LIVE AID 1985, a festival for a charity purpose with other bands. It is considered one of the most intresting and interactive live perfomances (20 minutes), because it was not in front of a queen audience and it contains a medley of some of their known hits. Ya, such an iconic band, the talent and originality is out of this world. Can't wait to see the the movie about the band when it comes out in November. A little known fact, Freddie had 4 extra teeth, 2 extra molars on each in the back if his upper row of teeth. That's why he has the buck front teeth as the extra teeth pushed then forward. He was told he could easily have it fixed, but he refused as he felt it would change his singing ability. He also was East Indian, born in Mumbai India, most people think he's just a white British guy.

Queen is simply the best rock band ever. Rock & Roll music dates back to the 40s and 50s and it's still going pretty strong, but nobody before or after Queen has reached that level of mastery. Queen has songs that touch upon each and every single style, denomination or branch of rock music from the most pop to funky to hard rock, always successfully. That's why they are the best.

Not only were all members of the band gifted musically but they were pretty good academically.Freddie had a Diploma in Graphic Art from a London College Ealing.Roger Taylor (drummer) has a Batchelor of Science in Biology and studied Dentistry at theLondon Hospital Medical College.John Deacon(bass) has a 1st Class Honours Degree in Electronics.Brian May(lead guitar) has a Phd and a Doctorate of Astrophysics and recently workedon Stereo Imaging of Pluto at the John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory Maryland. I'm not sure that you can call it opera at all. It's definitely not opera. It's just an utterly bonkers crazy insanely amazing voice, like no one else will ever have. An electric, soaring talent that will take your heart and fly away with it, and the guitar's one of the all time greats too. If opera is a chicken squawking then Freddie Mercury is a falcon playing on the wind. And then visiting a string of gay clubs after, and making the best night of everyone's lives.
