Written by Michael Macdonald + Kenny Loggins. They won the Grammy for Song of the Year 1979. This is late Doobie Brothers. Michael Macdonald era was more soul + pop. Michael Macdonald on lead vocal + piano. Produced by Ted Templeman. Same man who later produced the first 5 Van Halen albums. Similar song: Steal Away sung by Robbie Dupree. Michael McDonald sang with Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Steely Dan, Toto, the late James Ingram, Patti Labelle, Wang Chung. McDonald also wrote I'll Wait with Van Halen. Suggested videos: 1 Michael Macdonald sings I Keep Forgettin. 2 Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in 1984 in Montreal 3 Christopher Cross and Michael McDonald sing Run Like the Wind 4 Toto and Michael McDonald perform I'll Be Over You.

The song is about self-delusion. The answer to delusion is rational thought. Truth is not found with emotion-clouded thinking. You have to step outside yourself periodically to look at things in a more detached third-person perspective. ("As she rises to her apology, anybody else would surely know...")

@Nomad-vv1gk7 ай бұрын
This song is about two lovers from long ago meeting again. One of them, the man, is still hoping there is some flame in the relationship, but the other, the woman, doesn't even remember him and is only meeting up to be nice. In the meeting, he thinks there is still something there, but she just indulges him with a meeting and leaves, forever. Kenny Loggins co-wrote this song with Michael McDonald. Loggins' version actually came out first, but he decided to let The Doobie Brothers to release their slicker version as the official single. “What a Fool Believes” was certified gold by the RIAA on April 14, 1979. It was won the Grammy for Song of the Year 1979 by a duo or group. Here's the lyrics below: He came from somewhere back in her long ago The sentimental fool don't see Tryin' hard to recreate What had yet to be created once in her life She musters a smile For his nostalgic tale Never coming near what he wanted to say Only to realize It never really was She had a place in his life He never made her think twice As he rises to her apology Anybody else would surely know He's watching her go But what a fool believes he sees No wise man has the power to reason away What seems to be Is always better than nothing And nothing at all keeps sending him... Somewhere back in her long ago Where he can still believe there's a place in her life Someday, somewhere, she will return She had a place in his life He never made her think twice As he rises to her apology Anybody else would surely know He's watching her go But what a fool believes he sees No wise man has the power to reason away What seems to be Is always better than nothing There's nothing at all But what a fool believes he sees...
