They have a vast catalog, but the Isley Brothers sound that most are familiar with started in 1973 and last until 83. This is because they added their 2 younger brothers (Marvin and Ernie) and their brother in law (Chris Jasper). Chris was the main driver of the new music, the sound we've all come recognize as the quintessential Isley Brothers sound.

While people are always going to focus on the smooth lyrics of Ronald, the one everyone is asleep on is Dr. Ernie Isley, the self-taught guitarist who started out as the band's drummer. He wrote this song as well as most of the Isley Bros hits. He has written and played guitar for everyone from Janet Jackson and Jimi Hendrix to Joss Stone, which is why he is in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. His achievements in music earned him an honorary doctorate degree from the Barklee School of Music back in 2016.

The Isley Brothers were a real band in the 3+3 era of the group from 1970 to 1984. The older brothers on vocals were Rudolph, O'kelly and Ronald. The younger brothers were Ernie on guitar (with the face melting solos), Marvin on bass and their brother in law Chris Jasper on keyboards! Their catalog is deep! The older Isley's had been out there doin' it since the mid 50's and the younger brothers joined them in the late 60's. The Isley's were the most versatile band out there during their heyday! R&B,SOUL, ROCK hybrid! Fast, mid tempo & slow jams.....They could do it all! They wrote and produced 99% of their music and put it out under their own family-owned and run T-Neck records! True artists and pioneers!

@ellisisland1374 The Isley Brothers are my favorite band! I have lived and breathed them since I fell in love with their sound in 1973 at the age of 9! They're music is still in my daily playlist, and I believe they are one of the most underrated groups of the 20th century! R.I.P. brother Rudolph Isley, who joins brothers O'Kelley and Marvin in the heavenly band and choir. 🎙🎸 🕊🕊🕊😪

This is my favorite song. I wasnt even born when this song was made but this song is bittersweet. I fount out my ex was pregnant by another dude, and this song had just came on the radio, it felt like my subconscious was talking to me, usually as crazy as it seems relationships tend to drag on and on regardless of infidelity or deciet, yet when this came on, deep down i knew me and her was over, we would never be the same, and yet at the same time i love the guitar it relaxes my soul. I can listen to this song a billion times and never get tired of it

This is a very deep song .... Atlantis is a metaphor for a deeper meaning. .... This song is really about a deal with the devil .... Atlantis is basically symbolism for the riches and the vast wealth and lands that the devil promises to offer to whoever shall take the quote-unquote trip...... He promises things that you would never seen if you shall take the deal... For the first half of the song Ron is deciding whether he should take the deal or not.... By the end of the song he chooses to take the deal.. the misty lady that he's talkin about is really the devil ... And him sending the hook at the end of the song for almost a minute-and-a-half is basically him knowing that he accepted the deal and that regardless of him wanting to go back on the deal it'll always haunt him because he knows what he's seen on his rise to power in the things he acquired through the deal.... This song has a very deep story playing out it
