The reason a lot of buildings are falling apart is because the old town in it's entirety is a Unesco World Heritage site which means you need qualified restorators and permission from the city to work on it. Every year we get a few more buildings restored, but you can't really speed up the process without the drop in quality/authenticity.

Cheers mate. I've lived almost 4 years, in Tbilisi. It's a fantastic country. Great people. Delicious food. Beautiful nature. Lovely long summer. And very cheap to live in. It's a hidden gem, simple as that. Now i've relocated back to Denmark, but i will visit Tbilisi again, next month. Thanks for uploading 👌
@willieexplore Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your kind words Veni! I really enjoyed my stay in the city and can easily understand why you would want to stay for four years or longer. I hear what you say regarding the affordability, but I wonder if the influx of digital nomads and a lot of Russians will change the economic landscape. Cheers for checking out my channel and my content!
@venividiviking Жыл бұрын
@@willieexplore i think the digital nomads will continue to visit Georgia, simply because of the visa rules. Example; i could stay in Georgia 1 year, without visa. Actually it means, every time i left Georgia and came back, i started from scratch on a new year periode. It was easy to open bank account as well. On top of that, cheap furnished nice apartments ,as well. That´s attractive to digital nomads, i guess. The russians?? That´s a greyzone these day. Georgia has a very very Moscow-friendly president now, so i don´t think, she will kick out the russians. And... Russia has occupied 20% of Georgia (Abkhazia and South Ossetia) so it looks like, they´ve planned to stay, for a longer periode. But who knows..maybe they´ll be forced to retreat from these 2 regions as well, by international society. We don´t know, how this will end, on the political scene. Georgia also do a lot of upgrading, on the infrastructure, these years. I´m sure tourism will grow, in Georgia, Georgia is blooming.
@willieexplore Жыл бұрын
@@venividiviking some very interesting perspectives there, thanks for sharing! Yeah the visa policy is interesting, I bet a lot of people do so-called 'visa runs', like they also do in Thailand when travelling through Southeast Asia. Definitely want to go back and explore more of the country outside of Tbilisi, including the nature!

Hallo Johan! Ek dink 'n mens kan lekker bly daar ja. Ek dink die winters kan dalk koud raak maar die stad het lekker dinge wat jou kan besig hou dan. Daar is 'n groot 'digital nomad' populasie.

I've always avoided hostels because I just assumed they were all shared rooms (based on what I'd heard/seen), never knew you could get a private room. Nice find. Also, I've always been curious about Georgia - admittedly I know next to nothing about the country, so looking forward to this series. How safe does it feel walking around at night there? It's interesting too how much more wealthy Azerbaijan looks when compared to Georgia. A lot of the buildings in Tbilisi look to be in similar condition to some of the buildings I've seen while researching for my S. America trip. Thank you as always for showing us a part of the world we otherwise may not get to see. :) Side note, that clock tower is really cool. Love the unusual design.
@willieexplore Жыл бұрын
Cheers Landshark, you are most welcome as always! Many hostels have private rooms - I think the particular one I stayed at only has two though - but those options do exist. When I was younger I would stay in the dorms and still do in places like Gibraltar where the other private options were just too expensive for someone with my budget. But a private room in a hostel is generally my preferred accommodation, as hostels have more options for travellers such as budget tours / group activities with like-minded people. Georgia is a fascinating place. As you said, there are some marked differences with Azerbaijan, one of its neighbours. Certainly some of the buildings in the big South American cities has similarities to those in Tbilisi (Buenos Aires, for example, feels very European in parts) although Tbilisi also has that Soviet edge to some of its architecture which the South American cities don't have. Loved the clock tower and the message the creator wanted to send the world!

Also georgia is country which is most rich with water. and there is most higher price of water than in many countries (which is not absolutely rich with water). so you can imagine how dumb is government's when prices is rising everyday and work prices is same for people.

Nice in Tbilisi. From history , In 1810 92% were Armenians . 42 Churches ,today only one , Mer of Tbilisi were 47 Armenians , no single grave stones survive. Freedom square today ,30 years before was called Erevan Square. I have no explanation. Long live Georgia.
