Britt I had the pleasure of seeing him live in 1973. He was more handsome in person than any picture I ever saw. I had to be held back from rushing the stage. I’ve been to a lot of concerts, but his was the best! Love him~ What a man……

JUST CRAZY that his LIVE STUFF sounds like it was recorded in a MODERN DAY DIGITAL MUSIC STUDIO! The man's voice was beyond the pale. IMPOSSIBLE to duplicate and seats him above all the other music legends in my opinion. He was just SO GOOD at emitting emotion and passion. Nobody can teach that. You have to be BORN WITH THAT. You can go to the most elite music school you want, aint gonna duplicate EP, or what he did. None of us can duplicate that.

Our family is from Kentucky and I was riding somewhere with my uncle in the late 70s. This song came on the radio and after a bit he told me that on his way back from Vietnam this song came on the airplane sound system. I could only imagine the emotions he felt.

Among many other talents and interests, Elvis was a student of marshal arts. In fact, many of his later stage outfits would be modeled on the traditional "gi" or karate uniform. So that little "shout" at the end was more or less what is called a "kiai", which is intended to focus a person's energy on whatever they're doing. In the case of Elvis, being the consummate performer, he undoubtedly struck a karate pose at the end of the song and let loose with his kiai to the adulation of his fans. That's just Elvis bein' Elvis!

This beautiful production and mature song are reflective of the direction Elvis took after his 1968 "comeback" (from making movies and soundtrack songs). He went to Memphis and began recording with the excellent producer Chips Moman. The results were new classics like "In the Ghetto," 'Suspicious Minds," "The Wonder of You," "Don't Cry, Daddy" and this one, among others. It was a very fertile time for Elvis between 1968 and 1972 or so. He faltered a bit after that due to health reasons but then finished strong with the Moody Blue album (and title single).

Tom Petty met Elvis Presley when he was a child, and it changed his life. "I never heard him yell like that before." Yes. Elvis was a black belt and frequently did fighting moves on stage. In fact, there was an incident once where a fan rushed the stage. He knocked them down with a karate kick so security could take care of the rest.

You are always so good at pointing out various different things about Elvis, though in your own particular and cute way. As his voice differed from other singers, still influencing other artists today, especially w/what might be called that 'Elvis attitude.' He also had complete mastery of his vocal technique and his tone was one of the most recognizable things about the way he sang. His vocal range was deep and rich, yet he amazingly could also do a beautiful falsetto and hit high Cs that opera singers would envy. While I think it's his unique vibrato that impacts you most. His phrasing was also impeccable as he incorporated a sense of yearning, vulnerability and authenticity all in one voice, which few others are able to do. Stretching and squeezing words in a way that gave his singing a rhythmic quality that made it sound more like spoken word poems, at times, than traditional singing. He was also great at adding unexpected stops and breaths to his acts, which made them more dramatic and intense. When ultimately, Elvis’ singing always had a feeling of freedom and creativity which is why so many people consider him to be the greatest singer of all time.

I was born in 1953, and had teenage brothers and a sister, so some of my earliest memories are of the Elvis mania that swept the country starting in 1956. Him, Buddy Holly, and Sam Cooke were the most popular singers of that era. In around 1960 "The Twist" came along and that was the next "thing" that swept the country. I remember a photographer at school called me Elvis Presley when I was about 6 or 7 to get me to smile. I never felt so proud.

Elvis recorded this during his landmark two-week sessions at American Sound Studio in Memphis, which provided material for two hit albums in 1969: From Elvis In Memphis and From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis. "Kentucky Rain" didn't make the cut for either album, but was added to the 2000 re-release of From Elvis In Memphis.

One of Elvis song that hit home with me was a song “my boy”. Raising 3 boys hit my heart hard. Not to mention Elvis belting out a few notes. Yes the ones that give gooses bumps. Like to see you react. 😉

Hey Brittreacts! I love your channel and I think it's adorable that you love Elvis. Look up this song. It was the title track to a movie he starred in named Spinout. Badass vocals on that trqck

I love it! I really think you'd love Elvis "It Hurts Me" from the 60s also "Love letters" the 60s version and the 70s version and see what one you like best? They are both luscious ❤ plus you gotta do "high heeled sneakers" it's so fun
