One of the greatest action movies ever, which is interesting given that Indiana Jones doesn't actually save the day, or accomplish much of anything. Indiana Jones was always the man I wanted to grow up to be. It didn't matter that he didn't save the day. He fought as hard as he could, did his best, and always kept the larger picture in mind when choosing what to do.

I have watched this movie countless times, COUNTLESS, ever since I was a kid, and this is the first time I've ever noticed that when he says "you know what a cautious fellow I am," he just flings his gun into his suitcase rather than walking the two steps to put it there gently. That's just about the least cautious thing you can do to a double-action revolver with no safety on it, and I've never once caught the irony of that. Even many rewatches and many years later, I see some new piece of brilliance in this film every time I come back to it.

"There's so many things happening at once". That comes from the theme of the old serials that others mention inspired this. The serials would be short scenes, and you'd have some action scene that would end on a cliffhanger and have to come back the next week to see the action cliffhanger resolved, but then they'd have to get into some other action again in order to end on a cliffhanger again. So strung together it would be pretty much action after action and then right into more action.

Hi Big C! Just looked at my bookmark and found you'd never seen this. I'm jazzed. I'm giving you a thumbs-up even before I look at your reaction because I'm psyched I get to watch you watch this fabulous movie. I may comment later if I see you didn't understand something, or somesuch. OK. Gotta go and watch you! :)

If you love Spielberg, you need to do his first big movies: "Jaws" and especially "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind"! Those are two of his absolute greatest! And if you are loving Harrison Ford, check out his first movie, "American Graffiti", also directed by George Lucas, it's a teen comedy that takes place in the early 60s, fantastic movie, and Harrison Ford is very funny in it.

The music is by John Williams, who has written much for both Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. I think you'll have another fan girl moment with Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, mostly when Indy is shirtless.

I had nothing to do one afternoon so I went to see this on a afternoon matinee. It was the most fun I had watching a movie before and since. It's non-stop action, old school serial style, and funny, spooky, gross and everything in-between! Now, remember when the rats were reacting to the high pitched sound coming from the crate the Ark was in as the stencil was burning off? It's important because at the end you see the Ark being wheeled into the giant warehouse and of course it has no markings. The Ark is lost again! 😕🤔❓⁉️

Indiana's friend in Egypt is Gimili the Dwarf from Lord Of The Rings. Indiana shot the big guy with the sword because he was sick that day and couldn't do the fight that was scheduled.

FUN FACT: Production made a big mistake in the height of the staff used by Indy. The markings on the head piece said 6 kadam high and Sallah said "about 72 inches". Well 72 inches is 6 feet thus making 6 kadam = 6 feet in height BUT the back of the head piece said to take back ONE kadam, which would mean taking back one foot thus making the staff 5 feet tall. Well Harrison Ford is 6'1" tall and the staff he used during filming is at least SEVEN feet tall. They didn't take back one kadam, they ADDED one. All because it looked good on camera.

This was a P.G when it came out in England. Well, it was an "A" Film, which was kind of the former equivalent.

Love your reactions! If you like Harrison Ford and romantic movies, you should watch Six days and seven nights. Its like a mix of romance, comedy and action.

My mother and I watched this when it came out in the theaters. She later told her friends I took her to a western! 🤣 "It's not the age, it's the mileage." One of the best lines in movies.

Some non-American and non-UK kids growing up with the metric system may not know what the word "mileage" means. Needs to be translated to "kilometres".😁

A lot of people failed to realize that if Indy got trapped behind that closing door in the beginning, he could have just climbed his way out of the ceiling which was open to the jungle. You saw it each time they swung over on the whip.

Fun fact: Indiana Jones was supposed to have a fight with the swordsman at 12:00. Harrison Ford wasn't feeling well on set that day, and just pulled out his gun and pretended to shoot his opponent. Spielberg loved the comic relief, and decided to keep it in the film. 😀
