Bea I’m 5’3 (barely) and my highest weight was 263 lbs. I’ve lost 100lbs and kept it off. The way I did it was what you’re doing now. Tracking on an app (I used lose it). It took me forever to lose the weight. I’m talking like 5 years lol. I just made sure I was in some sort of calorie deficit. When I was feeling burned out I ate more calories. Many months I only lost half a lb or less. Some months none at all. I also have PCOS so that does slow us down a little but we can still do it! I know if I can anyone can lol. I’ve learned that I’ll never adhere to a particular diet or way of eating. Once I stopped trying to be on a major lifestyle change or diet I finally was able to lose weight in a realistic way. I eat everything I want to, just a lot less of it than I used to lol. Don’t put pressure on yourself to weight in for KZbin and not have an impressive loss every time. This journey is personal and we put enough pressure on ourselves as is. We love to watch you either way!

Hey gorl, this may help, it may not. I used to deal with a lot of negative self-talk and the voice in my head genuinely hated me. I found it impossible to even say a single kind thing to myself. The number one thing that helped me start to turn that around was literally just interrupting negative thought patterns with neutral statements. Like instead of trying to replace "I hate myself" with "I am a good person" it was just "I exist" or "I am here" or "I have emotions". Honestly it's more about interrupting the thought patterns than anything else, because it gives yourself permission to make space for any other kind of thoughts in the future. Also I remember that Tiktok that went viral (idk who said it) but she said "If you are trying to love yourself you already do". Love ya. Hope this helps.

Ohhh I’ve never heard of that! I REALLY like that I idea though, because when I’ve tried to counter the negative self talk with a positive one, my mind immediately goes to “BS, you’re lying to yourself.” But the idea of “you exist” or “I am here” - that’s a good strategy… stuff my crappy inner voice can’t try to prove wrong. Thanks!

I'll add what helped me: if I messed up I used to beat down on myself so much. When I started saying positive things but sarcastically (e.g. I'm so smart I should join mensa, based on evidence (the thing I failed at) i'm the smartest person in the room). I'm not sure why this helped but it did - now, even if I sometimes berate myself as an idiot etc, my brain doesnt take itself so seriously and I get to go in with my life. This isnt the solution for everybody and every situation but it did help me :)

I was on and off diets for fifty years until I decided to cut myself some slack and take it more slowly and it took me three years to lose 70 pounds but here we are six years later and I have kept it off. Of course I still have times when I don't eat perfectly but it's not the occasional day or even the occasional week that got me fat in the first place. I'm not thin and I don't want to be and I still think about food most of the time but that's just part of the reality of having had a warped relationship with food. Keep exploring Bea, you'll find the way that's right for you. Each time something doesn't work out is another lesson learned and helps you get there in the end.

Yaaaaas good for you Bea on your weight loss. I love the slow no pressure way. Every time I tried to stick to a prescribed diet I felt so restricted and failed. Now I am eating more mindfully and intentionally and it’s working. 40lb down in a year so not fast at all but certainly steady. I started at 252 and now 210 which I’m pleased with. I started with keto but now just so low carbs and it’s very easy and simple. No food off limits. We’re in this together my love! Xx

I’ve been following you from the beginning and find you so delightful. You weigh the same now as the first video you posted. That is not pointed out to be mean, but as someone who spent so many years trying to lose weight and spending so much time, energy, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, self rejection etc only to always be in the same place. What if you stopped trying, Bea? Eat what you want in the amounts you want. You’ll be surprised you can trust yourself and will still make good choices. Just think of all the time and energy you save for all the more important pursuits and moments. Paint! Learn a language! Start new hobbies! Read the classics! Get lost in a beautiful piece of music!! You are so much more than what you weigh and you’ve given enough to it already. Lay it down, girl.

Yep you're totally right. Sometimes when I see Bea's video I found her portion very tiny. I understand that she want to lose weight but she may not eat enough so it leads to binging. Having Huge portion of low calorie food helped me à lot to lose 20kg and keep it off as a person who has eating disorder and I did as you said, i ate whatever I want and realize that it completely OK to eat. Your body will get enough and stop naturally but if you restrain it, ED goes worse. Controlling portion doesn't mean small amount ! Sometimes, i'm also thinking that losing weight may not be Bea's priority now but girl without health you have nothing :( and health should be the reason why she need to take her journey seriously. I am not trying to be mean either but i am concerned about her health because i really appreciate Bea as a person but i am sad that she really motivated me before but now she becomes more and more just another girl of the gorlworld that Sometimes gives lots of excuse 😢

I have PCOS and lost 100 lbs eating more or less (but not strictly) a low-glycemic high protein diet low in UPFs and added sugars and tracking my calories on LoseIt. I also exercised but ate back those calories because it made me hungry, so the exercise was more so for fun, mental health, and other health benefits. It was very slow but sustainable! It was an important priority but never the center of my life. Mental health wise it’s super important not to make weight loss the center of your identity, a goal you feel will fix other areas of your life, a source of self-esteem or self-loathing. You can’t overlook it but you also need to “put it in its place” because other priorities need that mental real estate first and foremost. Good sleep, self-compassion, etc. Easier said than done, but you can do hard things!

Please speak with a dietician who focuses on ADHD weight management!! Everything you have experienced is completely normal for ADHDers, it's so much harder for us. There's a great article called 'How dietitians can bring hope and better health to people with ADHD' which was my jumping off point. You are not alone in this!!! 70% of adults with ADHD live in bigger bodies because a lot of us go through the same phases you are talking about but it's something that can be helped. Tactics that work for neurotypicals often won't work for us so having specific guidance was a game changer for me.

This. Also, (and no, it's not the path for everyone), for me finding the right meds was a game changer. I no longer wolf every meal like a starving animal, or obsess over the idea of food. Food still tastes the same, but I just don't NEEEEED it as much. If there's food left on my plate, and my belly is full, I won't pick at the leftovers until I'm sick just because it's food and I'm there. For the first time in my life I'm fine with leaving fries on the plate. At dinners, my whole entire being is no longer focused on the cake on the table that no one has touched for half an hour. I try to explain to my partner/family, that off meds, I want every bite like they want cold water on a summer day, and hunger feels like something angry trying to claw it's way out of my belly. ON meds, the hunger doesn't hurt, and food is just food. I was half way through my 30s before I realised that not everyone feels actual pain when they're hungry.

Hi. I'm not much of a 'commenter' but wanted to chip in this time. Been following you from Day 1 BTW. Firstly, your end piece about the weight loss strategy is spot on! Took me 50 (yes 50) years to learn that a slow approach with maintenance spells was the way ahead. Second - maybe this will help? Bless you, you made my head spin with the amount of stuff you're trying to do all at once. Maybe pick one or two things - one being a thing that has a deadline (like the taxes) and another, something where you want to build a routine (like the laundry). That's it - focus on just those until they're done (a little at a time if that's appropriate to the task) or they're an ingrained habit. The great thing about a genuinely ingrained habit it that you never have to worry about it again, it magically starts to happen all on its own. Then you can think about a new habit (like working out once or twice a week without fail, pending vacations or whatever). Just a thought. Good luck!

I completely agree with you! The only way I managed to lose weight (still doing it but I'm 6 stone (about 84lbs) down so far) was by doing it so slowly. The slow process involved adding one or two healthy habits into my routine and over time, once those became normal, I'd add more until my general lifestyle changed. It's been 5 years so far and I'm almost at the finish line. I really wish Bea all of the best

Congratulations on losing weight during Weight Gain Season, Beatrice! I cannot understand how it's possible to lose weight in January, the coldest month of the year. Cold weather gives me a large appetite. Bitterly cold weather gives me a GARGANTUAN appetite and a sedentary lifestyle. Wind chills are not conducive to weight loss. As far as I'm concerned, eating less and exercising more is for the warmer months of the year. That's why I'm heaviest in the early spring and lightest in the early fall.

I used to use those overnight affirmation tape things. I listened to them for like 3 months every night. When you first start doing it, you might wake up through the night and your brain might try and fight them by removing headphones/turning it off. The key is to keep going with it. You won't notice a difference in just a few days or a week. If the whispering is too weird for you, then an actual subliminal would probably be better. During a real, actual subliminal, you can't hear any of the affirmations, since it's covered by other sounds. So you could give those a try too.

Here is what I do re: laundry. I have 3 hampers. (You may need less as 2 people) 1 for me, 1 for hub and youngest child, and one for towels. Every time ANY of the hampers is full, I do it that day. Usually, they are not full at the same time, so no marathon!! I also fold the load when it’s still warm from the dryer so it won’t wrinkle because I am NEVER gonna iron it. Also ice cold wrinkly clothes suck to fold. Here is the thing: I suck at housekeeping. I’m lazy also. But laundry and dishes are the ONLY 2 chores you have to keep on top of. If you don’t, they get worse and worse and worse. Whereas things like cleaning the windows, dusting, vacuuming, is the same whether you do it daily or once a year. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not to sound like that person, but if you think meds might help and you're open to them (for ADHD, etc,) I'd recommend getting a genesight test through your doctor to find out what medications work with your body and which ones don't. I went through 4 different antidepressants before my doctor recommended it, and all of them were in the negative reaction category. Now I know what I can try to treat other conditions, too. I have found for me that my brain, despite my adhd, doesn’t like change. Whenever I try to make big changes it causes disequilibrium and everything comes to a grinding halt until I revert back to the status quo. It has been so discouraging and how long I go before that happens varies. Every time it happens though, I find it harder and harder to try again. No good answers except for maybe making much smaller changes at a time, but that hasn’t always been successful either. Path of least resistance often wins.

❤you losing weight slow is better for your skin! so I think you’re very smart for doing it that way, you hear so many people lose and hate their body because their skin looks like a curtain hanging off their bodies

Haven't watched the video yet, but just by reading some comments, I can say from experience, NEVER try to loose weight for anyone else, unless it's advice from your Dr. After loosing 9st twice and gaining back all the first time, and more, and between 1 and 6st several times and gaining, I've finally, since 2020 got my s**together, lost 7 st and kept it off. And I was a binge eater all my life. I did it for me, and you are strong, you will do it too.

My trick for laundry is hang everything in hangers, I know not everyone has the space but you save so much time, you only need to fold underwear and really if you put them in a drawer you don’t really need to fold them just stuff them 😂

😂😂😂 I got a Kroger commercial and you were out! That is the way to go out girlfriend. I'm with you, I am losing slow - because I want too. It keeps me in a better head space. Don't have to prove anything to us, we have see you kick ass and take it off. Maintenance is a good approach on and off. You do you.

Hi B! - So good to see you! How can you talk & trim your hair at the same time!? *impressive!* Doing laundry 1x weekly works for me, Fridays. …that’s also when I mop the floors. It’s nice to go into the weekend on a good foot. 🤬’em if they aren’t happy with the speed of your WLJ!, it’s your journey, no one else’s. Love ya Bea! ❤❤❤

It sounds like our Januarys are very similar. I spent the first two weeks of the month dieting, exercising and getting stuff done around the house. I had so much energy and was in a great mood. Then it was like a switch flipped. My mental health has been in the dumps this past week. I think I might have high-functioning depression or something. I still exercised and ate right but I've been anxious, sad and panicky. And other than eating healthy and exercising, I've had no motivation to do anything. I'm trying my hardest to keep getting stuff done because I know I would feel even worse if I sat on the couch all day binge watching The Office or Friends. I'm thinking it has something to do with my cycle. I'm starting my period next week and my mental health is usually awful the week before. I'm hoping that after I start my period next week, I'll be feeling much better mentally.

Take your time. They say healthy weight loss is a 1-3 pounds a week. You have to prove anything. You will have a better chance at sticking to it. That is what I have learned and I have lost 30 lbs so far. Good luck and keep it going
