You can’t beat making your own chippy meal. You actually didn’t make that much mess. My dad, every time he makes himself some toast, it looks like WW3 has broken out when he’s finished. He also never clears it up either. You’ve made an excellent meal!

Wahay! 5k. Congratulations Keith. £10.02. good price. Anne and I were talking about our local chippy last night. Four years ago double cod and chips, battered sausage and mushy peas was about £10. Now it's £20. Used to be a nice treat, but now can't afford it. Not only the cost, but the cod is half the size it was, and the enormous mound of chips is now a kiddies portion, and the battered sausage is always over done. Great video again, Thank you.

Look at that for a dinner you say Keith. It's bloody marvelous. One of the best homemade fish n chip meals I've seen right down to the newspaper wrapping. Mate you need to get one of those wire mesh draining spoons the asians use in their Woks. I have one and it's great for removing chips and the alike from hot oil. Fantastic Fakeaeay Wednesday Dinner! Cheers Keith and Nat. Tip: Use Beer or chilled Soda Water instead of water for the batter. The bubbles make a lighter batter. 👍😉

If you had held the plastic bowl closer to the pans you could have made less batter mess lmao. also you should get yourself one of those big tripod stands for your filming devices. As you can place them far away and higherup pointing down while zooming in close that way you dont have to keep moving the camera about making life easier :).

I live in Burntwood and always look out for you in Lichfield not spotted you yet lol a little tip when cooking not in the oven but wanting to dish up all together cook as normal but put your oven on just over medium heat with trays in once cooked each thing pop on the tray in oven till all is cooked to keep warm when alls done dish up that’s how I cook when doing for more than two people won’t over cook anything as just keeping warm then can all eat together and have time to warm your mushy peas and curry sauce up hope that helps 👍

I remember fish and chips wrapped in newspaper from when I was a kid. One time I got a portion of chips from the chippy and it was actually wrapped in page three of the sun, I was only about 12 years old at the time, I remember felling so lucky, like a dog with two, willy's lol. Chips fried in dripping and wrapped in newspaper were the best!

When we were kids our Mum used to chip 5lb of potatoes and cook them in her chip pan. A chippie dinner was always cooked in a conveyor belt-manner. But no-one wanted the first lot of chips...cos the other 4 sibs used to sit watching your every mouthful, and they'd always nick a chip off the plate, saying "I'll owe you one"!😡 That looked lovely but l agree: really need an empty 3mtr of worktop space for meals like this!😅

I make a bit of a mess cooking, too. Like me, you haven't got a lot of room for the plates, pans, ingredients, utensils. It was purely a coincidence that just before seeing your video I cooked fish & chips! However, the fish was a new line in Tesco Finest Beer Battered Cod Fillets, two fillets for £4.70. That might sound expensive, but it's just £2.35 a meal and it is very tasty flaky fish with a nice crispy batter. (These fillets are fresh, not frozen.) For the chips I did exactly what you did. Maris Piper peeled and sliced, then soaked in water for one hour. But I fried the chips in the air fryer and they are always delicious, using a lot less oil. I did Birds Eye Petits Pois to go with.
@oldfoodguy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Super. I might try that fish from Tesco
