I’m glad I found this video of yours in particular because I’ve been to a couple of larger lakes the past 3 weeks with ZERO bites and as upsetting as it is, and I have a lot to learn to become a better angler; it’s all about being out there making those casts, fish or no fish.

Hey Tyler, I'm local to your area I actually work at a AC/Plumbing/Electrical company that's pretty big in Grapevine/Southlake. I'm sure you can connect the dots lol. I wanted to give you a spot that produced more than 30 this morning between me and a buddy throwing a drop shot 4" Trick Worm. The neighborhood is called Seventeen Lakes in Roanoke. Its a beautiful neighborhood with nearly..(you guessed it) 17 Ponds. I did some research on the satellite imaging of the 17 or so tanks to see the date of them and they have been there since before 85'. The big ponds are absolutely LOADED with aggressive tiger breeds. I assure you it will not let you down! By the way, the big pond with a big ol' point is the main producer

I really enjoy this series...with the lack of fisheries where I'm at (most lakes are electric only or horsepower restricted) and the lakes I can fish are all super pressured and over crowded with recreational boats, plus tolls here and gas is crazy. I found myself going back to my roots and doing more bank fishing which is pretty endless here in NJ. I have definitely taken a lot of your advice....keep up the great work.

If you could only have 2 rod to bank fish with. 1 being a baitcaster the other a spinning rod. And you had to be able to throw everything from top water, chatterbaits, and Texas rig to weightless, Ned, and drop shot. What two rod setups would you use?

Funny story had a game warden pull up to my boat ask for license and registration ECT.. He starts to tell me this is called lake EMPTY you won't catch anything. I casted out right when he was talking to my friend. caught a nice bass. He just looked at me I unhooked set it back in water.cast again soon as my lure hit the water bang again. He just sat there watching. I unhooked again. Third cast hit another one much bigger my pole just bend almost to the boat the line snapped his exact word was holy **** lol . He said that was a big bass. I told him I thought you said this was empty. He ask me what I was casting. I told him just a simple wacky rig. He said you guys go back to catching fish and I will go back to catching people. Thanks for the show you guys. Thanks for tips I had so much fun switching between wacky or swim jigs.

My local pond has a fountain as its only feature. a fountain, and a lot of that stinking snot grass, as you call it. I've caught like two bass all month in this place. both on a chatterbait, everything else i've thrown, or even the chatter bait most days seem to get zero interest. the only thing i've not tried yet is creature baits because as far as I know the only fish stocked in this pond are channel cat, largemouth, and white crappie, then theres the forage, the blue gill and shad, so those are the presentations I throw the most of, but that has pretty much been the chatter bait, and some swim baits. haven't tried any treble hooked lures because of all this crap throughout the pond.

Great video Tyler! just a quick question, have you ever fished rock mines before? Down here in Florida I fish these somewhat small rock mines and I can catch some fish, but they are all really really small. I have caught a 5 and a 3 outta there before but that’s really the only nicer sized fish I’ve caught. I’ve probably caught around 50-60 bass out of the mines but almost all of them are a pound or lower. I know that there has to be big fish in there but I just can’t get them to eat. In most parts the water almost immediately goes into a very deep drop. a ton of bait is in there (shad,shell crackers, bluegill, etc.) so the bass have plenty of food to get big. Do you have any suggestions?
@iceman5117 Жыл бұрын
What kind of lures and equipment are you using and how deep are the drops? Bass are going to be moving back offshore and are either going to be roaming or tied to deep structure about this time of year, depending on the time of day. I would focus on medium or deep diving crankbaits, swimbaits and spinnerbaits (always add a trailer) right now to cover water and find cover. Once you find the cover or start getting smaller bites, try picking apart the holes and structure with t-rigs, flipping jigs or wacky rigged worms. If you're catching lots of small fish, try upsizing your lures. My go to on pressured lakes is a white 3" keitech or gulp minnow on a light t-rig, but I'll gladly go up to a 4" or larger paddle tail if the bite is on. Same applies to jigs or spinnerbaits. I might start with a 1/8oz and switch all the way up over a half ounce if the bite is on and I want to fish deeper
@fishingwithlucas53 Жыл бұрын
@@iceman5117 well I mainly use a lipless crank or a jerk bait when I’m out there. Sometimes I even bring some live bait out there. Towards the end of the day or in the early mornings I will flip a Texas rig along some shallower grass that sticks up out of the water. I fish these ponds from the bank and I’m not entirely sure how deep the drops are but they are at least 25+ ft along the limestone walls and probably 50+ ft once u kinda cast more out. I would say the deepest parts can get somewhere in the 80 to a hundred foot range. I always see little bass roaming around towards the top and some bluegill. I know the bigger ones are probably down way deep for most of the year except for when they come up to spawn. Whenever I see bluegill towards the surface I mainly focus in that area especially since bluegill are spawning right now and the bass are focused in on them. Thank you for the tips, I greatly appreciate it. I will apply this advice when I go out there next time.
@fishingwithlucas53 Жыл бұрын
@@iceman5117 and for equipment i usually just bring 2 rods. A 7 foot 3 medium heavy bait caster combo with 15 pound flouro and a 7 foot 1 medium bait caster with 12 pound flouro.
@iceman5117 Жыл бұрын
@@fishingwithlucas53 if we're talking 50-100ft I don't think bass will go that deep, and they'll likely suspend around 25' at most. I'd get a 15-20ft diver just to play with if you can get out to the hole. Otherwise stick with flipping cover. Dragging jigs or squarebills/lipless cranks up the shore should yield fish as well, until they start moving back out
@fishingwithlucas53 Жыл бұрын
@@iceman5117yea I do think they will mainly stay in the 25-30 ft range. Thanks a lot for the tips, will definitely apply your advice for when I go out there next time. 👍
