Thank you! Good job. I’m a grandma of 77 years old in Holland ! Maybe now I can apply as a plumber thanks to you😂

Great video, perfectly explained. I am a female without much experience in this field but thanks to your video I feel confident I can do the job, I really cannot afford a plumber. Thank you so much

I had to watch until 10:14 to learn why water was dripping out the top of the tap...but boy did i learn everything about an outside tap repair today. Legend.

I am convinced the manufactures make the taps so tight that you have to throw it away and buy another as you can never replace the valves without ruining it. Thanks

Thank you, Bill! I was 95% certain I knew what was wrong with my outdoor tap, but wanted to check to be certain. Now I can replace the O ring with a bit of peace of mind.

Absolutely brilliant! Love the feeling of being independent to do maintenance around the house at minimal cost. Don't get me wrong I do like to support local plumbers but if I can do it myself I will give it a go especially if the advice is just like what you have shown us. At first I thought the washer needed changing, the O ring was ok but in the end the original tap needed a full upgrade (1960's home). I also appreciate increasing my 'home maintenance speak' vocab. Cheers🥇🏅

Good video Bill. i know you are careful not to put too much torque on a stuck spindle to unscrew in fear of bending or dislodging the cooper pipe base. Do you ever have to apply a heat source on it to facilitate the loosening of a stuck spindle ?
@andycarter7325 Жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, what advice do you have for an external tap that has flexible pipe inside brick? I'm looking to change my 3 taps outside, but a plumber had issues with one tap that was twisting the pvc inside the wall. Thanks.

Thanks for the tutorial. If you call the pro out, they would generally replace the tap than spending the extra time fixing it right?
@billshowto Жыл бұрын
Depends on who you call out and what the issue is.
@neiltitmus97444 күн бұрын
Yes they are cheap to buy and the labour to fix it would probably cost more than that to fix it ,and you have the garentee of a new tap for a few years and scrap in the bucket

You should buy a Better Grip Wrench set, as they easily remove stripped fittings/nuts.

we are all guilty of "he manning" taps shut long after we should have replaced the washers, but this looks like it was an extreme case!

Probably the homeowner noticed it leaking a little and then tried to over tighten it to stop it leaking and made it worse by completely breaking it... that's my guess, that's probably a common reason
@damjan92573 ай бұрын
That's exactly what happened, because I just did it and broke it lol. Came here to see how to fix it lol
