If you’re going for uniformity obviously PRG. If you’re doing it for the channel TTTF. If you want to be testing do 1/2 and 1/2! 😅

TTTF, most drought resistant cool season grass, deep roots. so wont have to worry as much about watering as much. Just remember, you said you would pregerminate seed from now on.

I'd put down the TTTF blend that's currently available. The new variety won't be available until late next year unfortunately

You should add a dye to the mix. I was noticing you continually overlapped your spray. Probably why you had to mix a second batch. The dye will allow you to see where you already applied. Good luck

Hey man I love the videos! I am going to spray this mixture to my lawn for a bunch of weeds that I have. I also have nutsedge and was thinking of adding sedgehammer to the mixture. Would that be okay or should I apply it separately? If so, do you know which should I do first and how long after can I apply the second product/mixture?

I’m gonna go a little against the grain jesse and say perennial rye because of the faster germination time. I just put down some tttf seed from gci turf and it took 7 days to germinate. That was tough on the water bill since i waited til june to put it down. Whatever u decide i’m sure it will be great.

I try to keep him off until I rinse the herbicide off so like 4-12 hours. I bring him on a walk to do his business if I have to

The same turfgrass management practices apply to all cool season grasses. The only difference with TTTF is it requires more preventive fungicide applications in the summer time, a higher cutting height, and less watering is required. If you're looking for a good TTTF channels checkout Primetime Fescue and GCI Turf.

So I'm planning on doing an overseed and top dress late summer/ early fall with PRG up here in Ohio. The last couple years I've used my peat moss spreader to lay the mason sand down as it lays down a nice 1/4" or so layer down much more consistently than I could do by hand. I was thinking about dethatching, laying the seed down, then top dress with the sand. What do you think about the order of operation? Or is the better move to top dress with sand, lay the seed, then rake that in? Thanks for any advice!

I've never heard of anyone topdressing with sand after seeding but I don't see why it would be a problem unless you really bury the seed. Either way the sand will cover the seed if you do the inverse option after you rake it in. The one thing I will say though is if you dethatch and then lay sand, it has the opportunity to fill any big ruts or holes the dethatcher makes. I honestly don't think you could go wrong either way though

@lawnlifevlogs thanks man. You know how these projects are. I'm so beat by the time I get all the sand down and brushed in, to have to then go over the whole yard with a rake just sucks lol. I was just thinking I could maybe eliminate one step but the raking in and rolling the seed (using my reel mower drum) has always worked, so probably just best to suck it up and stick with the tried and true method.

Hi, I've been battling grassy weed types, I live in southern california, and I just overseeded with blackout tall fescue and kentucky blue grass in late spring, and now my lawn has lots of weedy grass types and crabgrass ... i would love to use speedzone, but it is not allowed in California. Can u please guide me in another herbicide to use ?
