Arthur's effortlessly charismatic stage entrace, the way he dances, shakes Murray's hand, kisses the woman, and waves at the crowd makes it feel like he was just so close to being an actual entertainer, if he'd only had a little better luck, his life would have gone entirely different.

It was the gun that freed him, and allowed him to reflect his views without fear of retribution. All in all he asks to be called joker cause he thought himself a joke, but he really wasn’t into it, he inspired the real Joker though, Jack Napier, that rescues him using the ambulance, and meets him in the alley afterwards. Notice how the real joker gravitates towards things he would later be known for: ambulances and alleys…

Robert De Niro doesn't get enough attention for his role as Murray. he perfectly portrayed the typical guy who acts and seems like a nice, cunning, and soft dude, but in reality gets away with stuff like mocking and making fun of his guests, kind of like Ellen Degeneres.

I think that Joaquin is just perfect for a character like Joker.. because you can just sense from him as a person that he has some of his insecurities and vulnerability as well. The way he does interviews, how shy he is, how thoughtful and barely ever smilling or laughing. He always seems just kinda tense. He does not like to be in the public and he appears to be a very focused and dedicated person to acting. He also has a history of depression and dealing with loss since his brother died. I think that Joaquin is just one of those kinda tired or even broken individuals who are dealing with too much behind their eyes from day to day basis. Which makes him ideal adept for a character like Joker.

@@billukhan2954They are both equally as good. The look that Director Todd Phillips had in mind of a Joker origin story about a man driven to madness after being shunned by society was nailed by Phoenix. Christopher Nolan wanted a more comic book based chaos agent Joker, who was there to break Gotham's spirit, pushing the Batman to his absolute limit as a hero, and this role was nailed by Ledger. They are both perfect actors for what their films intended them to be. There is no one that is better, because these are two completely different films. Even Phoenix himself bowed in respect to Ledger when he was receiving his awards.

Joaquin just made insanity look beautiful. He didn't just play The Joker, he BECAME The Joker. Just look at his facial expressions, the build ups, his movements. When you look into his eyes, you just see a man craving to hit society as hard is they did to him. And when you think about this scene in particular, look at how he shows how huge of a fan he was of Murray "I feel like I know you... I've been watching you for forever.", and how he actually was practicing on how he was going to shoot himself, just for everything to be perfect and how he planned it. This is a Masterpiece, and one of the most deserved Oscars wins in History.

I love this movie and the entire scene from where he's backstage to where he is done shooting Murray and holds the camera. Those, what, 8 minutes (?) of acting address things that you experience as a bullied person in such a short span of time on film. The gaslighting once you confront your bully as they pretend to or genuinely don't remember insulting/ assaulting you, when you finally confront them , they play the victim and as if they don't deserve the full throated confrontation/ a*kicking they are finally getting. And the audience of ppl that watched them bully you for god knows how long will suddenly jump to the bully's defense, chiding the bullied person for going too far. It's an amazing piece of work, this movie, because it touches on some very ugly human stuff that only chronically bullied people could ever truly understand. That said, I'm grateful AF I got bullied so horribly at school in the years before social media. Made me tough as nails. Kids nowadays though have no escape from it with social media. It follows them everywhere. At least I knew when I went home from school, I was safe until the next morning at school.

There’s something so eerie about the way he stares at the stage, stone faced, while they’re making fun of him at 2:03. He’s spent the entirety of the movie up until this point embarrassed by his inability to control the spectrum of his emotions. But I think it’s at this exact moment, that he decides he’s past the point of having his feelings hurt. He’s finally made the permanent ascension from sadness to rage. He’s no longer looking to please those who have ostracized him his entire life. He’s looking to punish them.
@michaelneufeld4515
@michaelneufeld4515 3 жыл бұрын
There's a line earlier in the movie, "I used to think that my life was a tragedy, but now I realize, it’s a comedy.", that illustrates that Joker's journey in the movie isn't from sadness to rage - it's from having the world tragically impose itself on him, to imposing himself comedically on the world.

The thing people misunderstood about the movie, is that he is not descending into madness. He is getting out of it. As he goes forward, he has less delusions about an imaginary relationship, less uncontrollable laughter and more self confidence and control over himself. He is becoming normal, in a crazy world.

Yeah no lol 😂 the point of the movie is it's his narrative. The real events probably didn't go down like this, probably similar, but this is what he was seeing. It's literally a character study. I don't think anyone who would laugh about taking a life is normal 😂 . He's a living delusion, that's what makes him Batman's greatest foe. He's the hero of his own story. Him and Batman are both madmen , with opposing goals. Batman is exactly what you described. Everyone thinks he's strange, he just sees the world for what it is. Joker just be talking out his ass but sees the world as he perceives. Far from normal
@kinozo8049
@kinozo8049 3 жыл бұрын
@@keytrononit3 I did not say he became a good person, he is just starting to fit into what is normal in Gotham. Yea, in a more comic book style world it could work better. But as hard as it is, try to empathize with him a little. He was constantly victimized by everyone, and taken for a loon. He wanted to commit suicide in public, so maybe people would understand how miserable he feels. Instead, he kills someone, which means he finally started to express his hatred outward, not inward. Again, he did not became a good person, he just taken control, and did what he wanted, with no regrets.

The part where Arthur tells Murray to call him Joker and Murray not remembering actually hits me hard. Murray called Arthur a Joker and that stuck with him ever since. Worst part is, Murray didn't even remember. Arthur was literally planning to kill himself right in front of him. In reality, we say stuff to other people all the time but we don't know how the people we're talking to takes it. We may not have meant it or even remember, but the people we talk to take it really seriously which leads to depression, anxiety, etc. This shows how your choice of words can really impact a person with potentially dangerous consequences. These little comments and insults can really damage a person. I think we as a society need to think what we say before and/or whether how they'll take it. Just be more considerate and polite.
