Considering this engine was hand crafted and not mass produced its minor flaws should be overlooked it's a work of art and a testament to the master crafter that built it

Economics 101 says the price of something is "only what the market will bear." $6500 to one person may mean something totally different to another. Everything is relative. Sure, you can probably buy several real full size engines for that price but since there are only 10 of these in existence the value is only gonna go up,up,up. Great running engine. Thanks for posting.

3:50 that idle sound, sounds so close to a real scaled V8 flat-head ! Congrats man !
@asshatnowhere15911 жыл бұрын
no, probably just how the carb set up is tuned. it might need some adjusting. basically what can happen is that the engine doesn't get the extra fuel fast enough (hence the delay) and the extra fuel can linger around keeping it revved for a bit. this can be a problem for older cars that use carbs but nowadays they all use fuelinjectors controlled by a computer

I do see the worth in these engines, the amount of skill, knowledge, and passion it takes to design and build one of them is amazing - in terms of comparing them to artwork is a good point but the return on investment isn't really there... at the $6000 range, a piece of artwork is basically an emotional purchase, at the Million + range, it's a solid investment. I don't see these engines value going up over time... decades, centuries... Art? (painting an example) yes, and it always will.

Reminds me of an old V8 Pilot of my mums back in about 1950 The Pilots engine was very quiet though. One could fit Offy heads to it as I remember but the Mercury engine was better. OHV. This is an excellent engineering exercise. Well Done.

+Robert Schreiber sorry, sometimes, at night after a little glass of wine, i make translation-mistakes. in german you often use conjugation like simple past to form conditional... There is a memory hook: (direct translated) 'if-sentences are without would'. and the german word for 'would' is the same as dignity. i wanted to say, that it would be a nice engine. but i understood, that they sell kits, too. at ebay i found a few. best regards

It doesn't seem to have a throttle pump to inject extra fuel when throttle is opened.
@xyman7111 жыл бұрын
carburettors dont need a pump as the draw air n fuel mix into themselves using a venturi, plus the fuel on the model is gravity feed thats why the tank is up high

The carburetor appears to be a simple throttle design. There is no accelerator pump. When the throttle is opened, a momentary loss of manifold vacuum results in a lean mixture and a sag in response. Once more fuel enters the manifold, the engine picks up speed. This is really a nice piece of work!
