My m10 on my e21 has right now 432k km, but is the CIS version instead of carburetor. They are tanks, I like the sewing machine noise the valve train makes

@@datsoon9236 All the BMW's from that period are great, cars were built to last and designed to be worked on at home. It was over the last decade they got bad and having to drop the whole engine to do the chain just makes them dogs to work on.

It may be a BMW 315, 316 or 318. It does not look like a 320, since the 320 was with a 6-cylinder engine. I am a bit confused by the front end which has four round headlights instead of two huge round headlights from the 315/316/318.

Nice video! Did you ever break the timing belt by driving after the car has been sitting? I have an audi 100 c3 with 2.3 liter engine. My audi has been siting for 10years, is it likely for the timing belt to break when i start and drive it? Im 14 year old currently,but i love working on cars, and other things that have engines. I have been working on engines for about 3-4 years, have the skills to replace belts. Greatings from Latvia🇱🇻!

Thanks! Hi, not yet but I recommend to replace or check it if it has cracks. But with one Audi we had problem with timing belt, crankshaft pulley had too much oxide on it and timing belt slipped. Fortunately nothing happened.

FYI bmw M10 engines used a timing CHAIN. They use an accessory belt for everything else (alternator and water pump). Timing belts should be changed per manufacturer recommendations. If not certain, change it immediately. Sitting for a long time inactive tends to cause rubber to dry out and crack. A failed belt can cause engine damage when it breaks.
