I wrote up a big rant about this movie's depiction of the SR-71 because I'm THAT kind of nerd but deleted it because nobody needs or wants to see that. What I will say is this: that bird is faster than it is stealthy and it's no slacker in terms of stealth.
@RedEyeReviews

Haha. It's OK my channel is full of long nerdy rants. That is so interesting because it has always looked fast to me, but every movie shows it just kinda "floating" around
@Skwiyhedd

@@RedEyeReviews iirc the SR-71 is the fastest manned aircraft ever developed and flown. It didnt take long for the Soviets to identify it's radar cross-section considering it was 112ft^2 but thankfully it was so ludicrously fast that as soon as they were detected the pilots would just up the throttle and they could effectively outrun anything the Soviets launched to intercept them. There's actually a great story somewhere here on YT of an SR-71 radio operator telling an audience about the time he and his pilot speed check to an ATC in LA after hearing some hotshot military pilot try to one-up someone flying a rinky-dink prop plane and I would recommend looking for this story

There actually is a difference between "passive stealth" and "active stealth." "Passive stealth" is just decreasing the plane's visibility and sound with things like paint schemes, so when people look up, they don't right away see a jet, and also the design of the jet creates a smaller radar silhouette, making it harder to detect. "Active stealth" is what stealth aircraft use like jamming radar and counter-electronic warfare devices. But in this instance, the bomber doesn't have any passive stealth, even though the B-117 DOES have it, which is why it looks all funky shaped, but it's not as good as the active stealth, which in this movie is a cloaking device.

Good answer.... but bad target, this IS A SEAGAL FILM MAN!!! @menninkainen8830

Jamming and electronic warfare are what for example Growler does. It is not stealth, because it yells to everyone you are there (somewhere). Active stealth would be like noise cancelling headphones. Real concept but impractical outside of movies. At least for now... (And great channel this btw.)

Nah ... sorta but nah, Firefox was a Cold War thriller based on the plot of a coerced defection or infiltration to steal a high tech world peace destabilising wonder fighter from the “evil empire” ... codenamed um “Firefox” ... basically a hyper paranoid Tom Clancy-esque techno fantasy ... tempered by Clint Eastwood’s very very very measured performance. Good book, ok film. Though actually maybe Eastwood really was very much the proto seagal ... just sleep walking through films. ALSO it was based on a book! And as far as I’m aware no Steven Seagal film has ever been based on a book! :p hell they are barely based on scripts, maybe first draft screenplays at best?!

7:20 "immediately tells her exactly who he is" yeah... the Geneva Conventions require combatants to do that. And it's not that stupid as staying silent may have them presume he's a mercenary and guess what... mercenaries don't get protection of the Geneva Conventions and can just be executed right on the spot. And they probably will. People of his demographic often ended up working as mercenaries in such regions, usually as pilots due to there being so many more qualified pilots from North America and Europe.

It's possible that the same theatrical armory equips most of his moviefilms. That's why the Valmet M78/83 (the Finnish RPK) shows up in both Commando and Predator. It was the same gun because same theatrical armory. 10:05 Unfold the rest of those stocks, greenhorn! Either do things right consistently or do things wrong consistently. It's better to be consistently wrong than to go all wishy-washy because at you're being consistent. Hufflepuffs, represent! Yeah, I went there. 11:01 You can't pull a single grenade pin with your teeth, much less two of them. That trope needs to end. 11:22 / 11:42 Unfold that stock, greenhorn! 11:43 Grasp that "dong" grip properly, greenhorn! Sheesh! Can't anyone do anything right?! 12:18 Fasten your boot buckle, you slovenly wretch! 14:39 He's gunzerking! He looks like an Axton main, not a Salvador main. Military types don't gunzerk like that. 16:19 If yer not gonna shoulder that weapon properly and use those sights, you might as well gunzerk akimbo style. Or maybe Seagal is so accustomed to handguns that he treats everything else like a backup weapon (which is the complete opposite of what you should do because rifles are where it's at and pistols just aren't game-changers in real-world practical terms).

13:40 I wonder if Black Thunder is the lowest-budgeted film "Movie Trailer Guy" Don LaFontaine ever did a voice-over for? It's probably right up there. Down there? I do like how he takes it as seriously as he would a $100M blockbuster trailer.

Two black guys in the whole movie and they were both thieves. Chuck Norris has an old movie call Code of Silence. Good movie. I always felt Above The Law was heavily borrowed from Code of Silence.

There's no way to "fly above the radar". There are radars that can track satellites and missiles that all fly a little bit higher that airplanes. The only ways to avoid radar are flying _under_ it (which doesn't always work based on a whole number of factors) and\or using stealth (same here, also, stealth just reduces the range at which the plane can be detected, and doesn't make it magically completely invisible to radar).
