I use the rubber stops - small size works fine for 4#-8# line - and a bead. Without the bead, the rubber stop occasionally 'sticks' in the slip-bobber opening...and yes, I use Thills with the brass grommet.

2000 Carbon X with the shallow spool is an awesome reel. Just the right size to go in between Ultralight uses to heavier game. The 22 lbs of drag is a good feature just in case you hook a beast. Unfortunately I contacted them recently and they are not in stock with the additional shallow spool. I enjoy shallow spools due to the longer casting and less line you have to put on the reel.

i use a crappie pole and fish around bank so i have never had the issue of rubber stops getting stuck

I really dig your channel and I just picked up the 3 in 1 bobbers from Bass pro. I’ve got a Garmin question. I’ve got the UHD 93 sv on my console and I’m wanting to put a Garmin up front. I’m looking for a step down model that will still do charts and will still communicate with my 93. I can’t afford another 93 on the front. Thanks

I have tried using braid as a stopper knot, the problem I had was that the bead passed right over the stopper knot. I am using the beads found at Wal mart so they possibly have too big a hole in them, I also used 30# power pro braid that is 8# diameter so possibly not thick enough for this purpose but that is the line I use & have on hand.

How do you thread wet, small diameter braided line through a slip bobber? It's like trying to push a rope. Seems I can get it half way then it stops.

Thread some mono through the bobber, tie the braid and mono together with an Albright knot (very thin knot), pull back through, cut off mono.

10# mono just tie 5 overhand knots on top of each other.

I usually end up with the yarn , I've used dental floss with some success but nuttin to rave About, I like most all of us Deer hunt/Wild Pig Meat Ain't Bad if ya get the Right ones , but the strings that they tie bags of Corn or some other type Wild Game Feed with is a great Source Just pull em out roll it on a empty line spool till ya need it then throw it in the tackle bag or boat , it's the same thing and it's not costing me anything extra , those yarn stops are about 4$ fort 20 now , there's that many in one bag string , some have a different type stuff they're Sown with on each end that works ok as well , the rubber stops work unless you're Casting long distance, then they hang up , I use the lightest jighead possible , usually 1/16 or 1/32 , my problem is the dang Line won't slide thru the Bobber when it gets wet ,it sticks & I end up adding a weight ,,, Slip Bobber Is one of my favorite tactics, Wish there was a great solution to these Little glitches, I'll get me some of the fly line stuff and try it , Interested in the results of your test TIP : I Use Bullet Slip Sinkers sometimes above my jigs like we All do, You Can run your Line Thru The sinker then thru a Small rubber band (if need be on bigger sinker openings double the rubber band) then Back thru your Sinker then back thru one last time that's a Total of three times that forms the loops in the line you need to do it, Then Make sure ya hang on to the tag end and it Stays Thru your Sinker as you stretch the rubber band Till it slides thru the sinker leaving a little hanging out of both ends then trim it just a little ,the Rubber Band pinches the line Making the Sinker adjustable and it stays put , The Normal split shot pinch sinkers are aggravating they come off and Or get loose and it's crimping and scaring my line making a weak spot, this Rubber Band trick works out if ya Hang up on brush because the line will slide Thru The sinker down to the jighead and you can bump it off the snag , then slide ya sinker back up the line to where ya want it ,it also allows ya to adjust how far your weight is from the jig ,
