I always love the critters you find and show us! It takes me back to fond memories of childhood trips to the beach and how my brother and I would get so excited about finding live ocean critters on the beach. Often times we would put them in a container and take them back to the motel room to watch them for a while. Don’t worry! We always returned them to the ocean!

I don't blame you! I've considered bringing a bucket or something myself so I can watch them safely for a little while. But the shells call me, so I just say hi and keep on the move. I know what you mean about a crowded beach. I just want to walk along the shore and look at the view or sand to see what shells are there during a quiet time of day. Love going while school is in because that’s when it’s quiet but then sometimes I want to sit and look at the ships when at my favourite beach and love hearing kids laughing and playing. Being there during the sunrise is pretty awesome. Florida has such beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The Leopard Crab shell was so cool with those designs!! Very classy looking. The Sea Urchins that you picked up were so different with the length of their spikes and the one with the longer spikes had a thinner body than the short spiked fatter cousin. So beautiful!! Thank you for a beautiful, beautiful walk on the beach!! I really enjoyed it!! Have a great week!!☀️☀️😊🐬

@@SWFBeachLife super cool to get your reply.. in New Zealand our shells are not nearly as prolific nor as varied as what your Florida coast is offering up.. when I go to the beach with a companion I always say I'll find something special for you and you do the same in return and it becomes a real treasure hunt.. we always manage to find something amazing.. one time a friend called out to me from 100m down the beach saying that they found me my beach gift and I raced over to a very small tidal pool with a foot long rock and there staring up at us trying to hide which was of course not possible was a gorgeous octopus.. we got to really have a study of it as the tide was way out and it had nowhere to go...just loved that day.. so memorable. The way youre filming and narrating your explorations is really so well done..feels like I'm there and its great when you take time to pan around the beach and the sea waters cos that head down tail up thing really becomes the main event and you can miss out on the beauty of the your surroundings.. beautiful vibes.. great work..🚣♀️

Hello! Thank you again for a lovely beach walk! My favorite of your trip this time are the crab carapaces?. Those crab shells are way cool and I was thrilled with how many you found! I hope to find one of those. I think in Ocean Grove NJ I found some crab shells like that and they were very fragile. Are the ones you found very fragile as well? Wow so pretty though. I love the rose petal tellins too. Thanks so much again.
@SWFBeachLife2 жыл бұрын
I went to Ocean Grove once! What a cute little town. The crab carapace's aren't that fragile when you find them on the beach, but the ones I held onto have faded a bit and I suspect they're a bit more fragile than when I found them. Next time I'm going to try to "seal" them to see if I can keep the color!

I LOVE the Keys. Our trip there convinced us to move to Florida. I didn't "discover" shelling until I moved here and my understanding is that there's not a lot of beaches there to go shelling. See I have too many hobbies that keep me relatively busy. Love them all, but get easily distracted for sure! Sometimes I can use small shells in jewelry making.. Maybe in my Dreamcatcher crafting next time... So, I binge watch cool channels like yours and other hobbiests/crafters etc. And other special interests.. Happy Scooping! Ought to fashion yourself a tool to make it easier to pick your goodies up? I also noticed a shadow close by? I hope you don't go alone to some of these places! Be Safe out there. Thanks for sharing and your reply!! See you again! =) Mindi

You make such GREAT videos. The best. And such wonderful teaching. Loved meeting the live creatures. It's colder up in Canada, but very little snow. Thanks for sharing your adventures and thoughts.

I thank you so much for your video's I have learned so many names of shells I had collected over the years. KZbin is how I shell now through the views of others videos. I'm 5 miles from the Gulf but will never see it. My niece from Connecticut visited me last year and brought beach sand and gulf water to pour on my feet so I could feel like I was at the beach how sweet of her. I had some beach sand and a few shells on my bed table but the CNA knocked it on the floor and broke it. Sand all over. I enjoy your video's more than you will ever know.....thank you❤❤

Virginia, thank you for visiting the beach with me. I'm glad I can share all the beautiful things I get to see and all the things I'm learning! I knew zilch about shells until I moved here and I just think they're so beautiful, not to mention interesting. If you're able, please send me an email at swfbeachlife@gmail.com. ❤️

@@SWFBeachLife thank you for being so kind. I watch you find shells I have and it warms my heart to see you love your shells like for years I loved mine. As you know entering a nursing home you give up 99% of all possessions so my niece ad her 5 children have my large collection. When my niece from Connecticut comes in May she is hiring the vehicle that transports wheelchair bound persons Weare going to have a day at John's Pass (between Maderia Beach and Treasure Island) Pinellas County. Restaurants Tee Shirt shops tourists I'm going to love it and the water to hear the waves and my beloved sea gulls. Keep sharing your channel it means the world to those like myself that have had their mobility taken away❤❤

Love your walks on the beach, seeing all the critters and shells and hearing your descriptions of them. The long strips of eggs cases, like those of the lightning whelk, always amaze me, they seem so large in comparison to the creature itself. The box crab shells are simply beautiful and that crown conch, wow!

Hello! My favorite of the day was actually the horse conch egg case. I had never seen one before - beautiful! I loved that you shared the trash you picked up. I always carry a separate bag just for trash at the beach. For a while in the middle of winter we were getting a lot of unusual stuff washing up on my NJ beach ... made me wonder if that was a product of currents. Anyway, on older guy referred to me as a beach angel for cleaning up, so I'll share that mantle with you!

Thank you beach angel! 🙏🏼 If you'd like to see the inside of one of those egg casings, I showed it in a previous video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJDJepKMmLufsLc

I really love watching your beach walks. We live on the other coast in BC Canada, and I’m always curious to see what similar creatures we find here on our beach (lots of huge moon snails). We are hoping to come for a Florida trip this coming summer and I’m dying to visit some of these beaches thanks to your vids
@SWFBeachLife2 жыл бұрын
I hope you do get a chance to roam some of these beaches to look for treasures. We don't get the big moon snails like some of the areas up north do, but boy you can't beat the variety of goodies we have. 🐚

A great but chilly day. I’m happy you are taking the garbage off the beaches. Those crab shells are pretty but I really like the pile of angel wings today. It’s all good.

What a nice walk. I feel your pain we were up to the 50's and even hit 60 here in PA let week and then the next week BAM it snowed a few times - What the heck...LOL. I liked seeing the crabs, they were very different. I think it is a great idea that you had to track how much trash you are removing from the beach each walk that you do, thank you for all that you do.

I heard about that crazy weather up north! I feel bad when people at work (most live in MD and NJ) talk about the miserable weather over the weekend and I just stay quiet since I was at the beach 🌴 It does get wicked hot here, but I'll never have to shovel snow again so I like my trade off!

Hi thanks for fun chilly walk. I wonder if a crazy crafter could collect all the parchment worm paper shells and make paper...and use squid ink to paint on it. ..and would that paper or those shells glow in the dark ;)
@SWFBeachLife2 жыл бұрын
Apparently it's the worms mucus that glows (ewwww) so I don't think we'd be able to see the artwork glow. However everything else sounds like a brilliant idea! ☺️

Great finds! I was wondering if you have a video showing your gear...I am especially wondering what you use for a bag and how you keep the delicate shells intact.

Thanks for the questions Debbie. I've had a lot of people ask me about my gear so I'm going to start incorporating that info in future videos!
