The heat comments brought back to me my memories of flight training at Burnside-Ott Aviation in a Cessna 152 at Tamiami Airport in Miami, 1978. Heat AND humidity, not like the Southwest! Emerged from the plane sweating especially after stall practice! For some reason I always wore jeans and not shorts. That's how it was then. Also amazingly my fellow students were Iranians and Venezuelans, their training paid for by their governments. Iranian and Venezuelan students....THAT's a change from now!

curious if transitioning from 737 to single engine is a challenge on the rotate on landing. The 737 rotate/flare timing versus the cirrus rotate/flare. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts and comments on that aspect of craft change.
@FlyingwithBigErn3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good point! I’ll talk about that in an upcoming video. Honestly it takes a min or two then it’s fine. Your brain will recalibrate pretty quick on the sight picture. The Cirrus lands differently too. Cheers!

Cirrus says no extra speed for gusty conditions, but I appreciate the wisdom of experience. Gusts to 17 knots still out of my personal comfort zone with only 150 hours in the SR22. Perhaps we'll run into each other on the ramp to discuss sometime. Home base is across the field at Signature. Nice video, I'm an editor myself. Happy to help if ever needed.
@FlyingwithBigErn3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff! Yeah but after a particular gross landing in gusty conditions back in SDL I feel an additive is wise. Just my personal opinion though and I’m always receptive to others experiences. I may need you skills😁. Getting hard to edit and fly the extra trips out there now! Cheers!

I am amazed how fast the larger/heavy jets come in to Vegas to land, thin air, heat and lack of humanity must wear out a lot of brake pads !
@LtColDaddy713 жыл бұрын
Take off is a lot bigger deal actually. But their runway is very long and rolls downhill slightly. I’ve never had to lighten up (kick passengers off) due to heat. Even at PHX. I’d imagine Ernie might have, since that’s his base. That’s why Big LUV didn’t get stupid and buy any hyped up RJ’s! The 7-3 can tolerate about 10 more degrees of heat than any of them. Now that G650 in the video, it is smaller, but can out perform any commercial airliner. FL510, which is ballsy, even being the technical wonder it is, it’s still operating in a tiny window in which a high speed, and a low speed stall can both happen. It rides the coffin corner!
