Great information. Could you do a supplemental foam rolling video for back and shoulders please?

Hey Ryan, started to get serious with callisthenics a couple of weeks ago and your videos are really helping me! Btw, I’m a ‘young’ 48yr old, with some martial arts history but callisthenics is helping me get back in shape and your focus on good form is right on point. Thanks for the motivation 👍

I got myself a foamroller recently and if theres one thing I need to do then it is have a proper stretching routine that I do daily. Theres only one stretch I've been doing daily in the morning and before going to bed and its the "touch your toes"-one. You can improve that one quite quickly and Im at were I can reach the palms to the ground.

Captain Rhodes very nice! Palms to the ground is impressive flexibility.

What size roller should I use?

Should you roll right after a workout, before, or nowhere near your workout?

Hi Ryan, great video. Do you have any recommendations on what size roller to get or on trigger point vs smooth?

Hamstring flexibility has always been a struggle for me that holds back my L-Sit and pike pushup work. How long do you hold your stretch for, and how many reps/sets do you do to maintain?
@MinusTheGym5 жыл бұрын
FLABrowncoat I do sets of 1 minute each when I stretch. The number of sets depends on how tight the area is and how quickly I want to progress. I've gone as many as 4 sets of 1-minute on a muscle group. And I do this daily or as close to daily as possible. I believe that flexibility and mobility work is best done as frequently as possible (that's what's worked best for me).

Very nice Video. Do I need to warm up befor I foam rool?
@MinusTheGym5 жыл бұрын
Bernd Webklo nope. In fact, the act of foam rolling is a warm-up itself. You can roll before you work out and it will help promote blood flow and "prime" your muscles.

Hey Ryan, I bought a foam roller a while ago, used it a little but now its stuck away in the cupboard. I found it to uncomfortable. Its ridged, I noticed yours is smooth. Could this have been my problem? Or will it always be sore?
@MinusTheGym5 жыл бұрын
The14roscoe funny you ask. My wife got me one of those ridged/textured ones last year and I've only used it a few times for the same reason. The bumps make it more painful and harder to dig into the tight areas. So I'd say give the smooth kind a shot and see if you like it better. I sure do.

Sadly another video with false information about foam rolling. There is no scientific evidence to the information you provide here. Adhesions certainly don't form because of overuse of your muscles and fasciae are not made of spongy tissue.
