Both Shadow and Jackie visited the nest. Shadow delivered a stick and did some organizing. Jackie arrived a few minutes later, aerated the nest, and then ate at least one of the eggs. There was no visible development inside. One chapter ends and another begins.

I watched this live last night and I just thought how she put back in her what came out.....yes, full circle is the right term. She took care of it and somehow the essence of what could've been is back with her. Love her and Shadow so much. Such great respect for them both.

It amazes me how they continue to build their nest. Always bring strong sticks-basically, and can add to the nest with their beaks and feet to keep it strong and in the wind at this time, thoughout the weight of snow this past winter-one tree that they used apparently fell. The eggs had to go. Jackie is cleaning up and preparing for a new brood and this is wonderful news. The nest must be clean and strong. And...Shadow wasn't going to give up until the eggs were gone. Even though she tried to keep him away, he'd still go back, check them, pat them and roost. Boy boy. How she was able to separate herself long enough is the wonder. That is amazing to me. I am so proud of her and Shadow both. Now-I hope the tree stands strong. And the nest.

I just happened to come upon this site a couple of weeks ago and am so very happy that I did. In the short time I have been a viewer I have come to love this couple, Shadow and Jackie. I will follow from now on and hope for a bright future for them and their offspring. I was blessed several years ago to see a bald eagle and its nest while in Northern Michigan. I had never seen either in real life. I was thrilled and just plain overwhelmed by the beauty of the eagle and huge size of it and it's nest! How utterly beautiful are God's creatures!

Talk about a full circle moment! And we can all feel better now seeing that the eggs were never developed. I thought I saw some fluff/down when Shadow noticed and moved the first egg that had broken, but it may have just been the shell membrane. Either way it wasn’t fully developed so it solved some of the mystery as to what happened with the eggs. And I’d much rather see that it’s the eagle parents (momma Jackie in this case) getting some nutrients back from their own non viable eggs as they move forward. Full circle.

The most beautiful story of nature ive ever witnessed to watch these to loving eagles go through what they endured just reminds me of humans the way they told there story its àbsolutely a beautiful story but sad ending they will hopefully show us next time with more weather in there favor bless j@ s

I'm honestly glad she finally did that. I've seen other nest's where the adults eat the contents of the nonviable eggs. I was hoping maybe Fiona would get them or the ravens. It's time to start a new chapter and maybe even another clutch? That would be awesome if possible.

While it is probably hard to understand, for Jackie to eat the infertile eggs, it's better for her to do that, especially if they will return to the nest and lay new eggs.. Leaving the old eggs would make the nest unfit for use.. Am I making any sense here?

Laying eggs depletes a bird’s calcium reserves. Female raptors often eat the eggshells of their hatched chicks, so it seems to follow that eating an infertile egg would accomplish the same thing. I am no expert, but have observed this behavior in many raptors.

But today Sunday, they are back at nest….. seems to be doing “spring cleaning” tidying up and STILL bringing in sticks. Both have come back again today… maybe another clutch….here’s to hoping.

They were leaving eggs at the beginning for 30-40 minutes. Then, for 2-3 hours. Later for 6-8 hours and nothing happened to them. They were not destroyed or taken by ravens or Fiona. One of them should’ve taken care of them to tidy up the best. Jackie has made an executive decision and dealt with the problem.

Если люди полезут на дерево проверять камеры, то надо уменьшить гнездо. За год птицы подняли его на 20-30 см, а это лишняя нагрузка на дерево. Ветер очень сильный, гнездо может упасть. Будет тяжело, если упадет вместе с птенцами.

I was incubating 6 chicken eggs during the time Jackie and Shadow were sitting on their eggs. I only got 4 tiny chickies out of the 6, but still felt bad for the 2 that didnt make it ok. Always grateful for the ones that do, tho. 🥰

5-10 days when the female is in a fertile period. Jackie is fertile from January to March.
