It's time for another start to finish sculpting video! This time I am working on a female pose study inspired by a concept from Marco Silvart (www.artstation...) of the model Aline Mineiro. I kept this character sculpt a bit shorter because I want to move on to one more smaller project before diving headfirst into sculpting another full character. If you have any cool concept art or characters you would like to see me sculpt in the future, let me know in the comments. I love sculpting beautiful girls but dang is it tough. Making things ugly is easy but whenever I try to create something beautiful it takes forever. There were a lot of really interesting problems that came up while sculpting this girl so I wanted to focus a bit more on those for this video. Plus I think you guys secretly like to watch me struggle ;) Either way, I hope you enjoy the video and maybe learn something new along the way. Until the next one! dueces ✌️

This is incredibly random, but thank you for taking the time to talk about the fundamentals while you sculpt. I’m making a playlist for my younger sister who wants to learn how to draw, and several of your videos feature sections that I think will be really useful to explain 2D vs 3D form and how to think about form, etc. This particular video had some great insights about choosing and working from reference. Thanks for taking the time to share some of your knowledge with us for just a small investment of our time.

You are by far my favorite 3D artist content creator out there. I've watched a lot of different channels over the years and no one sits and explains their entire process from start to finish the way you do. Most channels just show an extremely fast mock-up of the process and then tell you to buy their course to see the entire thing... Which is very annoying especially if you're a student trying to learn the process, it makes it very hard to get a good understanding of everything. Thank you so much for what you do and many people including myself have learned so much from the amazing artist that you are. :D

Awesome stuff! One thing I wish you’d mention more of, if this is something you find important to your process of course, are the muscles and fleshy landmarks that you’re working on. There was a part of the video when you were working with the forearm and you were sculpting out the muscle over the ulnar ridge, and I was hoping you’d mention something about it. Same thing with the nasolabial fold, or lack there of, on the face. Maybe it’s just me, but memorizing anatomical landmarks and attaching the names to them help me a ton, and I would love to hear your insight and wisdom on that! :D

You totally sold me at - "which is Blender" part and started rendering with Cycles. I was expecting some cliche industry standard like KeyShot, Octane, RedShift or Arnold. I haven't used any of the above industry standards. Just heard their names. I have been using Blender since it was pink all over the interface. Yes, 10 plus years. You sir, have showed how powerful an open source software and it's rendering engine can be. Awesome work. Love it.

Did I like it? For sure! I really liked your remarks, which encourages us to continue calmly, not to be in a hurry. I liked the emphasis on always making a GOOD GEOMETRIC BASE and leaving it to refine later what will be easier. I'm a BLENDER fan even to sculpt. At the moment I'm doing a private 3D modeling study in BLENDER and I want to find a way to create a photo reference in sequential layers with gradient. I'm testing! But I'm working with 2 pictures of a character. And we know how difficult it is to get the photo right versus the photographic field of view (35.50.85mm) and know how to match the depths of the photos that are visual. It's crazy, it's cool, let's see what happens! I already saved the video. I liked your references. As I'm going back to studying Zbrush for more commercial reasons than my charisma, your videos help to create methods for a faster and more efficient workflow. Thank you!

Something I've been trying with sculpting (which I admittedly don't know a lot about - I'm a box modeller, get off my lawn you damn kids!) is actually blocking characters and faces out of cylindrical and spherical shapes and assembling them bit by bit rather than starting with a sphere and extruding out what I need entirely from that starting sphere. It's a lot easier for someone with my background to wrap my head around, especially since sculpting in 3D is such a ballache because you have to manage and recognize what's happening with the mesh while you sculpt (otherwise you get to spend an extra huge amount of time re-meshing if the model isn't just a static object). Your process in this video summarized up what I'm trying to get to perfect, and that's awesome to see it working really well in practice.

Very nice! Just a suggestion, I'm an artist myself, and I have found observing the pose in front of a mirror or just doing the pose myself and looking at the relation from my torso, arms and legs and how they naturally sit helps when you don't have all the reference needed. I noticed in this example you share, her knees wouldn't come so close to each other but rather naturally would sit more apart, creating more space between her legs. Try the pose and you'll see what I'm talking about. :)
