Budget meal ideas keep me from being tempted to skip meals in the name of "I'm sure I'll be hungry soon, I don't wanna waste a nice meal, what do you mean we're at dinner already?" I'll have my salmon or steak, but fuck me am I having it when I really want it when for 1/5th the price I get just as much protein from another source.

On the concentrate vs isolate point. Concentrate contains a lot more lactose so can irritate people's digestive system. Hence why some people get "protein farts". Isolate has a lot less lactose but isn't lactose free. But it's usually fine for most peoples systems. Obviously stomach and bowel inflammation caused by lactose can also result in mal absorption of nutrients. Just a few things to consider.

Good video, thankyou! Gave it a like, although the chicken, sweet potato and broccoli looked like a proper miserable dinner. I'd be tempted to save cals and pence and use white potato, then use the cals on tin Tom's, onion and use the left over fat from the chicken to fry the par boiled potatoes, throw some herbs and spices in there and you have a nice patatas bravas.
@string4333 жыл бұрын
The table discussed at 4:45 is flawed due to it failing to discuss other sources of plant based protein. Tofu is considered a good all around protein, but it is in no way the highest source of plant based protein (seitain is considered one of the highest). Doing a couple of calculations, I determined the following (note that my prices are in CAD so it may differ slightly if you live in a different country): 1. Seitan has 750g of protein / kg of seitan. Compare this to chicken which has 310g of protein / kg of chicken. 2. Looking at my local supermarket, the cost of seitan per gram of protein comes out to be $0.027 / g of protein. For chicken, it is $0.064 / g of protein. 3. Plugging in the assumption of 150g of protein per day for 30 days, it would cost you $121.50 if you only bought seitan and $288 if you only bought chicken. The main takeaway is that for those looking to diversify into plant based proteins, you don't only have to depend on tofu. You can also supplement with protein shakes etc. . Hope this helps!
