Man, first the Distractible guys threw shade at Dairy Queen’s food, now MatPat did, too. I actually really enjoy food from DQ, especially their chicken, but I think their burgers are good, too. And now thanks to crunching the numbers in this episode, I have a good reason to choose a DQ burger over other fast food burgers because theirs is apparently less unhealthy than a lot of the other chains. (The ones that beat it don’t have any locations in my area.)

I was gonna say, my city has a few DQs, and many of them aren’t that great, but there’s one that has GREAT burgers. the cooks in the back sound like a real set of chefs, and take the “grill” in “grill and chill” very seriously. however, i’ve definitely been to some DQs with some pretty garbo burgers. they’re usually on the worse sides of town, and are very short staffed and poorly maintained tho

I'm thankful for what you're usually referring to is the US side of Burger King. I am pretty sure in Europe the major fast food chains are vastly different, probably because of the stricter health inspections in restaurants (not like it makes the burgers healthier, just different). After looking up my local Checkers, and comparing their rewards program to my normal go-to of Domino's (yes, I know they're different kinds of food), I feel it just reinforced my instinct that when it comes to burgers, you're better off just making it yourself. It's usually just as fast, provided you already have all the ingredients, and you have total control over how it's made and what goes in it. For those who are curious, Rallies/Checkers' reward program is a $5 reward after spending $80. Domino's has theirs set up to give you points for each order of at least $5, so it's a little more involved, but you can get some things after just 2 orders, and progressively better stuff as you go until you get a medium pizza at 6 orders. So a $15 pizza at basic menu price with no coupon, after as little as $30 spent. Now admittedly, there's nothing stopping you from ordering $50 of pizza every time, but we're talking if you're aggressively gaming the system. Add in their coupon game routinely shaving nearly half the price off the order, and it's downright unfair.

As a former employee of burger king I can agree that it's very unhealthy, the patty soak in their own juices before being served, and sometimes employees still serve burgers after the expiration time. Those little beeps you hear when you walk into fast food, that's the sound of bad food losing its freshness, and going to cause someone even more health issues then the transfat.

As a huge fan of burger King. I am equally unsurpriesed. I mean I literally will not be going to fast food to eat healthy. I'm here either for a greasy patty, a quick meal, because I don't feel like making food. Or ina mood and want to eat the saddest fish sandwich I've ever had, thanks, mcdonalds. I like to call them the kings of ridiculous controversy. So seeing them as not only one of the least popular joints and seeing them as the unhealthy worst.. second to wattaburger, I'm actually fine about having one once in a while to satisfy those rose tinted glasses my stomach wears called nolstalgia. Thank you guys for all this info and for making it speedy and entertaining btw!! Since you guys went through all this research, it would've been even more helpful if you guys added the total weight (as they come) of each burger to see which one gets you more full. And second, their prices. For example, if you ate 2 cheese burgers from Jack in the Box, do they weigh as much as one burger from Whataburger? And would one burger from 5 Guys or Carl's Jr be cheaper than Rallys or two from Jack in the box? So I think weight (how filling a burger is) and price (if you have to "survive" off a burger a day) would be super helpful to add on to this research. Maybe next do an order of fries or an order of chicken nuggets. Lol. Awesome show. Thanks once again.

BK is the only one that will sell you a three pound plus burger without having to yank someone's arm. Hi! Data Scientist here. You need to standardize them by weight to compare “healthiness.” But to be more accurate on what’s “healthy”, we would need to compare multiple samples(to estimate the population means) of what’s normally ordered at these fast food chains. For example, your order at McDonald’s will be different than Whataburger, so are you more likely to consume less “healthy” proportions by choosing one or another? Food for thought!
