Hi Shanty . We have the same thing here in Calcutta , India > Only thing, it is pronounced - "Phooloori " . It is had as a tea time snack in the evenings as is " Alur Chop " the same as your Alu Pie. . A lot of Trinidadians left India from here in Calcutta.

Hi Bhai Somnath, glad to hear that our food can be traced back to India. Our ancestors from India came from other places as well, such as Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, etc. So glad that you reached out to Didi Didi Shanti. She's a great cook and we thank her for sharing her talent. Stay well and we hope to visit India one day.

@@babydevi9587 Hello Baby Devi . Very happy to hear from you . Have always been very interested in knowing more about our brothers and sisters , who left their homes and settled a world away from what was once their home. Obviously, what they took with them : food , culture has still persisted ,inspite of the passage of time. Hope you get to visit India some day .

That's just colored fried flour you can use either ground split peas or ground chick peas (aka)chana that's why I don't buy and eat all what looks good too much short cuts for me
@semsem1853 жыл бұрын
@@lindageorge6663 some people don't like split peas or channa in it like us. My family won't eat it at all. But if you look up the meaning of polorie it literally says fried dough. So no one way is correct, you just make it to suit your likes and dislikes. My son says the grind dhal in it tastes like wet sand and his father spit it out so I prefer the flour version.
