Dev returns to show us how he prepares his Kachori, a local delicacy that also happens to be fully Vegan!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup dried channa, soaked overnight OR 1 cup tinned channa
1 cup yellow dhal, soaked overnight
1/2 cup flour
1-2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp saffron powder
1 small onion, minced
3/4 cup green seasoning (or as much as you like)
salt to taste
oil for frying
METHOD:
Using a food processor, blend the channa and dhal together as fine as you can get it.
Add in all other ingredients except for the oil, mix well and make sure everything is fully
incorporated.
Using your hands, form flattened circles or small patties with rounded tops and bottoms.
Heat up your oil until it is just smoking, and fry for about 5 mins per side. Check the
inside of the first one to ensure everything is cooked through. The oil cannot be too hot,
as the outside will burn and the inside will remain raw.

For those watching outside of the Caribbean and the diaspora, who not sure: Channa is chickpeas Dhal is split peas Saffron (in this case) is tumeric powder Normal flour is all-purpose flour

I tried this....and my husband who does not like fried food...went back for seconds...so that says it all for me. I added some geera, shadow beni and some hot pepper to it.

Shubh Navratri ..I tried this Kachori, recipe .. it was amazing .. thanks for sharing ..neighbors were loving that "Indian food smell" . you gotta love Kazzie .. she is just adorable!

Did well trini here Dhal or split peas powder in package Grind channa or channa powdwr or flour at most super markets can make it easier optional you can leave the onions out well done welk done
