Getting some serious nostalgia right now. Yummo. In my region in kerala, my aunt roasts grated coconut and adds it on top of the tempering. Hot rice, cheru payar with a dollop of ghee - the aroma of heaven at home 💘

Love your videos and the recipes. I have a contrary heart condition so I’m interested in keeping the saturated fat content in my food very low. Consequently I don’t eat coconut. Is there any substitute?

Here are a few suggestions 1) Add some black pepper to the coconut and grind 2) Add the ground coconut towards the end so that the coconut remains its fresh taste. In other words do not cook the coconut with the moong for a long time. 3) Drizzle some fresh coconut oil on top after cooking. You can also add chopped raw plantains or yam to the moong.

What are curry leaves? I’ve never been able to find them in the US.
@DashofDelight11 ай бұрын
Curry leaves are the edible leaves with loads of health benefits. They're used in South Asian... mostly Indian cuisine specially for tempering process. In US, you can easily grab them from any Indian store in the fresh vegetables section. You can ask for help there, in case of any confusion😊. I'm also in the US and they are always available in my refrigerator. Hope this helps🌿

It’s a green lentil,that you find in international markets,I don’t know if your supermarket sells them as I’m not in the UK,but I would think if you live in an area that has a lot of South Asians they might indeed have them in the supermarket.Hope that helps.
