I do have suggestions. I've found that it's important to strengthen the muscles used to achieve these corrections. I found it very difficult to stay in this posture until I started specifically strengthening particular muscles. But once they're strong they don't have to work so hard to keep you in correct posture. These are some that I strengthened and how I did it. Do the chin tucks several times throughout every day. My favorite was to tuck the chin and gently push my head back against the headrest in my car. Don't do it while you're driving. Do it at every red light instead. (It actually feels really good.) Strengthen your external shoulder rotators and retractors. I like using exercise bands for this. (Bob and Brad have some really good videos on how to do this.) Exaggerate the position while you're doing the exercises, not when you're just trying to stand right. (Like they said in this video) If you get your muscles strong you won't have to try hard to keep them in the right position throughout the day. Strengthen your abs. Especially transverse abdominus. (Bob and Brad have videos for this, too.) These are the muscles that hold your guts in. They help keep your spine in a healthy position. And they strengthen your core (lower torso). That makes you less likely to injur your spine. It reduces back pain. It keep you in better posture. And it makes you look a bazillion times better. I do my transverse abdominus exercises while I'm brushing my teeth. It's easy to remember that way. And my favorite way to do this is to imagine a chain going from the back of the bellybutton to the front of the spine. Pull that chain tight so the belly button is pulled back toward the spine. Repeat that motion a bunch of times while you brush your teeth. And one more. For those of us with a significant booty, standing flat against a wall isn't going to happen. 😅 If I were to do this now I would need to use the corner of a door frame instead of a wall. To rest the sacrum (tail bone) against the corner of the door frame without the rest of the booty getting in the way. 🙊 I hope these suggestions help.

Thank you! I have improved my posture significantly through strength training so I think this is great advice. I do personally do strength training with a mix of weights and bodyweight and core exercises for 30-45 mins 3-4 times per week. I wish I had found out earlier in life but at least I know now!!!

@@gjimjams That's awesome! Go you! I used to strength train with free weights and body weight, too, as well as the bands. The friendly peer pressure at the gym was a good constant reminder to keep that good posture up, too. 😅 It's amazing how much all of that can help to improve posture and increase function, even at a late age. I was 45 at the height of my gym years. My posture wasn't horrible before that because I did other stuff like Tai Chi for years. But even at that late-ish age, the work that I did at the gym did still help me to improve. And I got to see it help other people to improve. I took a long break from everything, (during long COVID). So, most everything has declined. But I'm slowly starting back at it again, now at 48. I have a ways to go now. But I don't think it's ever too late to improve. So, good job you doing you! Even if you didn't start when you were young I know that it's not too late to improve.

For some reason when I do this and put my head against the wallwith chin down, I feel strain in my neck…probably as a result of poor posture over MANY years? Wonder if it will get better? Loved seeing Bob doing a “pop in” blurb…..Bob, you are thought about and cared for by many! Thanks for the many good youtubes over the years…love you guys….

Yes, it can be tough if you have had bad posture for a while! You might want to try using the backpod or posture pad or even a rolled up towel to help correct it.

Using a chopstick to correct posture & head alignment. My head tilts to one side due to muscle imbalance & using it to check shoulder height is tge same each side & face/neck alignment along the midline is useful . 5 days ago when I started to correct neck & shoulder posture, it caused pain down my back (normal due to muscle imbalances) & I could only hold it a short time. Now it is improving, with better alignment, less pain & better neck alignment. I have Th. kyphosis so I also use a rolled towel between shoulder blades & another traction exercise with it under my shoulderblades (in supine). This is in other videos you have, if I remember correctly. Although a physio myself, I get alot of inspiration from your videos, esp. the easy explanations.😊

Hi Bob and Brad!!! Your videos have always helped me. I recently got an MRI as per my Ortho. I recently lost my job and cannot afford therapy. I was hoping you could provide me at home workout for my ankle and knees? Ankles 1. Focal Bone marrow edema or bone contusion, lateral malleolus 2. Minimal talocrural and subtalar joint effusions 3. Minimal peroneus and brevis tendon sheath effusion or tenosynovitis Knees 1. Subtle patellar cartilage, represent chondral contusions or early chondromalacia 2. Trace joint effusion 3. Trace joint effusion 4. small benign bone cyst, anterior medial segment of femoral metaphysis. 5. Tiny interional cysrs, tibial intercondylar region. I will be saving up for a joint and cartilage specialist as my orthopaedics recommended but I wish to reduce the pain when walking since jobs require onsite reporting. I am still in my twenties so they said it is unusual, but I fell of the stairs multiple times since childhood to adult. Thank you so much! I am not asking for a cure just a few exercises to ease the pain :) thank you!

One of the things that helped me find "relaxed but in the right spot" shoulders when walking is to walk with my palms facing just slightly forward (instead of facing backward like a gorilla). That one thing helped make a chain reaction that helped my back and shoulders.

I don't understand. If your feet are out from the wall and your head is back touching the wall...if you remove the wall you'd fall backwards...so this method will not work for ordinary walking and standing posture.
