Let's Go Rivian!

I care about the environment but what sold me on this R1S was pure economics. I’m a business owner so I do lease, and I compared it to the Chevy Tahoe, BMW X7 xdrive40i, and Audi Q7 six-cylinder, and all three had higher monthly payments, and that doesn’t even include the cost of fuel. For example, for a well equipped X7 xdrive40i, my lease payments came out to $1,275, Chevy Tahoe z71 was $1,125, and Q7 six cylinder was a whopping $1,348, all with 12,000 miles per year and 36 months, with about $3K down for first month and taxes and fees. My R1S Standard Pack with 15,000 miles per year! came out to $951 per month, also with $3K down, granted I paid lower sales tax and received the federal $7,500 lease credit. The R1S is more spacious than the Q7, is similar to the X7, and of course is smaller inside and out than the Tahoe, but due to the frunk, the R1S has more cubic storage area than all of them! Now, let’s say you drive about 1,000 miles per month, with my local KwH rates, I pay $20-25 per month lol. Compare that with at least $250-$300 in premium gas. There is hardly any maintenance except for possibly faster tire wear due to the weight, but my goodness I am saving a lot more with the R1S. Also, I have the base dual motor which goes 4.5 seconds in 0 to 60, which outperforms the X7, Q7 and Tahoe. No brainer for me. I also like the fact that I don’t have any gas or soot in my garage. The R1S driving experience has thus far been great and I love that it’s a unique body on frame truck, so the payload is high. Actually higher than the Tahoe and way higher than the X7 and Q7 which are technically cross-over unibody structures. The roofload is also substantially higher. R1S is great value. Get them before incentives expire!

I wish this came with captain seats though. I don’t want to get the ev9 because of car theft and high insurance costs. I already have the Nissan Ayria and my wife has the awd Mercedes Benz eqb 350 and both are amazing vehicles. No maintenance cost other than tires, and there was one recall on the Mercedes Benz EQB 350. Now is you buy the EQB they mostly come in front wheel drive and a few new tech but the cost went up nearly $15,000. My wife bought her car at the right time. In a few years I plan to get this after I pay off the other cars

I'm going to sell my Tundra and throw down on probably an R1T. Maybe an S. After my son moved home for college, needed a second car, and used Model Y's were cheaper than the Hybrids I'd been shopping, & spent time in a rental Kia Niro EV. I wasn't expecting to love the Tesla much, but it hooked me. Driving the Yota feels like a chore now. But the Riv glided along akin to the Tesla. Enjoyable to drive.

Almost everyone agrees that Rivian makes great vehicles. But they are also expensive and this video -- which feels like a straight up ad, honestly -- completely skips over the very real risk that the company could go bankrupt within the next few years and leave all its customers out of luck for warranty and parts.

No button anywhere and adjusting wheel on wheel is so confusing and the minimal basics is needed no matter the technology age. In 1000 years still this should remain basics. The competition is coming for Rivian's R1S, R1T, and R2. The Kia EV9 is a direct competitor to the R1S in the USA luxury EV large SUV market. The Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Silverado EV, Tesla Cybertruck, and GMC Hummer EV are direct competitors to the R1T in the USA adventure EV pickup truck market. The R2 will be competing with every small electric SUV and crossover on the market, including the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Kia EV6, Volvo EX30, Volkswagen ID.4, BMW iX, Nissan Ariya, Honda Prologue, Toyota BZ4X/Subaru Solterra, and refreshed Tesla Model Y. Rivian will likely have to massively drive down manufacturing costs while simultaneously ramping up production volumes to compete with these highly automated mass manufacturers in 2025. Globally, Rivian will have to compete with Chinese BEV OEMs.

coming in R2 and every other upcoming model. the 2nd gen R1 likely was in development for several years, they couldn't have realistically fitted NACS in time-wise cause, well, things take time
@rohanm54Ай бұрын
The EV9 does not compete with rivian in terms of range. It goes maybe 250 on a charge. Rivian’s go 400+. Also VW and Rivian are partners now. Every single VW product (VW, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc) will be using Rivian’s software and computer chips. It’s a 5 billion joint venture. Honestly, until 2030-2035, the only competition Rivian has is Tesla. The Koreans are close, but no one has innovated more in the EV space besides the startups. Bc the legacy OEMS still have to put resources and money into building ICE/Hybrid cars.
