have one of these wet belt engines in a 350 transit ,have been advised to do oil and filter every 3000 miles ,any longer and the belt will degrade and start to block the oil pickup in the sump this starves the engine of oil and will wreck it😫

Aaaah sh!t. And here I was just getting into the idea as a good idea. Maybe if they go back to a chain but in the same location it would be better. Your at least going to get a 100,000kms out of that chain.

The 2011 Ford 2.0L diesel engine has the following problems: 1. Difficulty in maintaining the timing belt; 2. Difficulty in maintaining the water pump; 3. Difficulty in maintaining the thermostat; 4. Slow acceleration.

Iv got a 2016 one of these with 82000 miles on the clock and just had a bill of £2300 for a head gasket repair that caused the cylinder head to be replaced completely as well as valves, glow plugs broke off, head bolts snapped. It was a complete nightmare

OK I'm starting to now understand why everything costs so much for my Ford Transit MK6 2005 6spd. S/H parts for these cars don't last more than a few hours at a wreckers/breakers. yards are buying these rigs for GBP300 and selling the bits for around GBP5,000. "Old is Gold" as my wrecker says.

No timing CHAIN, are you kidding me?! I hope this isn't an interference engine design. Come on Ford!
@Xsidon3 жыл бұрын
Especially that the old model had a chain. This belt is a fucking joke

Mine failed 3 weeks ago 158000 KM I can asure you it is an interference engine for sure. Rest in pieces.

50 seconds in, my eyebrows went with alarm bells ringing in my head. A Belt in the engine! What a great idea Really ?????????????????? Why can't Ford just drop in a lazy 4.0 liter six cylinder long motor and a simple automatic transmission. Take a leaf out of a japanese manufacturers design principles.

Nothing is further from that truth. This engine is going to be nice on paper and disastrous in real life (Endless money pit)
