Great looking truck! And very clean engine compartment for that age. I recently acquired a '92 with the same engine. Those engines are "bullet proof" (or so they say), but mine isn't nearly as clean as yours. Thanks for sharing!

Does anybody know what the part is called that snaps onto the valve cover in the morning goes to the air box? Also I'm having a hard time finding the name of the part they call it the AC condenser but it's up on top of the engine and the wines from the heater core lines run into it and then there's a sensor that plugs into the back of it it looks like there's a filter on the front. And I believe there's a sensor that plugs into the back. Any information would be greatly appreciate it thank you.

Why are these old engines so reliable? It's because they don't have a 144mm turbocharger, Procharger F-4X-144 and Whipple W510R supercharger slapped onto them. These are simple, robust and reliable naturally aspirated engines...

I got the exact same truck same engine and everything (not as clean engine bay tho) but with 473k+ original miles just had one engine rebuild 70k miles ago but manual transmission still running strong no rebuild or nothing just lost 5th gear tho but I drive it like that it runs perfectly fine I drive from atlanta to charlotte north carolina every two weeks and from charlotte to Toledo Ohio and from Toledo Ohio back to Atlanta i don't haul nothing with it but I do drive it a shit ton 😂 Ford needs to sponsor me everything else on the truck is original

@john jay I'll speak from my own personal experience, the 300 i6 equipped trucks are becoming rarer and rarer. The price for these trucks have dropped and now anyone here in Canada can afford a F-150 with a 300. Most kids with no mechanical background use them for off-roading, rev them to 5k+ rpm and aren't doing any proper maintenance, which results in premature engine failure. As far as complexity of the engine management, it isn't too bad. The fuel injection system on these older fords is not too hard to understand and once you've worked on it a few times, and it's really easy to wrench on. The carburetor models use very little electronics but don't exactly run as smooth as EFI ones. Harder to start on cold mornings, lower horsepower/torque, etc. Comes down to personal preference on which you prefer. I own a 1996 F-150 with the 300, the last year of this beastly engine and the only year to have OBD 2. 280,000 kms and still running strong.
@fuqee
@fuqee 7 жыл бұрын
john jay I don't think I could do that unfortunately. For a barely running engine here in Canada you might pay 200 to 250 dollars. I suggest you join Ford Trucks groups and forums, you might find someone who will be able to sell their 300 to you and arrange the shipping. However that will most likely be extremely pricey, considering you're moving 600lbs overseas.

They're kinda famous for the A/C pump making that sound, then they stop making that sound when the AC pump seizes. The sound is then replaced by the smell of your serpentine belt melting. Luckily you can just disconnect the pump wire connector and it will release the AC pump clutch. Unluckily when the AC pump seized it very likely got the pulley bearing very hot and started a secret timer that gets to zero when that bearing seizes too. Only real problem I've had with my 300.
