In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the water pump and gasket on a 2.7 L eco-boost Ford engine. These engines come in at 1:50, edge, and Lincoln MKV in this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the water pump and gasket on a 2.7 L eco-boost Ford engine. These engines come in F150, edge, and Lincoln MKV vehicles. This job is not too difficult however there are some important steps to take along the way. Such as using proper torque specifications and making sure not to damage the grommet that goes around the water pump and slides onto the water pipe in the motor. Make sure to check out the links below for OEM quality parts and great prices. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave something in the comment section. Thank you

Good video I’m glad to see ford didn’t put that water pump internally like the 3.5. We bought 2 f-150’s with the 2.7 so I’m keeping fingers crossed that they last. So far so good

Fantastic engine, its unfortunate that I had to have a huge head gasket leak at 170k miles.

Thanks for doing this video! It’s going to help me appreciate the money I spend at the dealer when I have someone there do it! LOL! I know I could do it, but man that’s a lot of work.

Great video. I have a 2016 F165 with 69k miles. Tonight just after leaving work. My temp gauge maxed out and I got a p1299. I think it maybe a bad thermostat because one hose was hot but the other hose was cold.

Spent the better part of the past hour hunting down part numbers for the water pump and no one is able to confirm or deny if the pump comes with the thermostat, housing, or not. Has part numbers changed since then?

Wait. The water pump on the 2.7L is externally mounted? I thought these were internally mounted. There was this whole thing how they can leak coolant into the engine oil and wreck the engine.
@JD-zf7gf
@JD-zf7gf 4 жыл бұрын
Juan Zingarello I think the 2.7 is all external. The 3.5 3.7 are internal. My 3.7 had both internal and external, ya, I don’t get that either

John Divo Good to know. We are actually looking at a Lincoln Nautilus and this gave me a bit of a scare knowing what a problem this was for Chrysler. Although it seems that with Fords the coolant leaking into the engine oil wasn’t so much of an issue. I always thought the Duratecs were known for being fairly reliable engines.

@@juanzingarello4005 Yes, they are great engines. I believe it's 2007 or 2008 - 2012 model years that have this stupid water pump design. None of the newer style aluminum F150's from 2015 to present have the internal water pump.

Fantastic video and explanation my friend. I have a 2018 2.7L that’s appears to be leaking from the heater pump also but mine will leak a gallon on about 24 hours. Can just the gasket be replaced or does the entire water pump and thermostat need to be replaced?

With the tiny oil filter on the turbos you think the oil filler line should be changed out more often to prevent damage to the turbo?

Are you sure that isn't the edge where the spray cleaner was sprayed? Look at the cover before the spray and I don't believe that "crack" line is on the cover.

holy shit dude!! forget the water pump. Do you still have this truck???? seriously get yourself a catch can and maybe get a certified ford mechanic to look at that blow by issue. you got some major engine issues here other than that water pump.......look at 4:10 to 4:19, see all that oil coming from that charge hose. You must have a rough idle truck..... how many miles you got on it in this video??? Judging by the dust on the engine you never opened the hood before this video. holy crap man......

This truck currently has 180k miles on it with no issues. It’s a fleet truck and has a Rigorous maintenance schedule. Located in az. Can’t drive one week here without an engine bay looking like that. Lots of desert driving.

How does ford afford to fix all their water pump failures... soooo many people have their water pumps failing or leaking and replaced under warranty its insane what kind of water pump are they using that is so garbage? Ive never had any issue with my engine with ford its always the stupid ass water pump
@francesco1998
@francesco1998 4 жыл бұрын
This engine has 120,000 miles on it and the pump is only starting to go out. It’s recommended you replace a water pump every 100,000 miles anyway so this one actually lasted great.
