@edim1084 жыл бұрын
The smaller engines are fun and all, but if you haul heavy loads and keep the truck for long, you'll quickly notice how quickly these smaller engines will ware down. The V8 may not be as fuel-efficient, but it's definitely the more reliable option and you can get loads more power if you decide to modify it. The 5.0 is the same Coyote motor that's in Mustang GT so aftermarket support is HUGE, replacement parts are plentiful and cheap and people know how to tune these engines.
@smgs9212 жыл бұрын
So i can’t speak on behalf of thr 5.0 but i have a gmc sierra with 6.2 V8 and i’ve done as well as 24.6mpg average on long roadtrips on the highway so i would be hard pressed to say these ecoboosts are more fuel efficient even. I typically average 18-19mpg
@WhatDayIsItTrumpDay4 жыл бұрын
People in America drive trucks now because of several factors. 1) Higher ride height. Allows you to see your surroundings better. Also allows you to go off road better without having to worry about dragging the ground. 2) Modern trucks are just as nice inside if not even better than cars. And in 4 door models, there's generally more room. And for full-sized SUVs like Yukons, Suburbans, Explorers, Expeditions, Escalades, and Navigators, you have all kinds of additional room. 3) And with trucks, pickup trucks specifically, you always have that bed available to haul large things if you ever find yourself making that impulse buy of a large TV. But the main difference between American roads and roads in Europe in general is that traffic lanes in America are 12 ft wide, and in Europe they are just 9 ft wide on average.

My 2017 STX has only covered 28K miles and still look like new. As for depreciation - I've lost less than $10K over 5 years which is insanely good! I paid $35,000 and my trade in is $26,000! I had it valued 2 weeks ago. It drives better than my wife's GLE Mercedes! Best purchase I've ever made.

I think people from the outside of North America looking in tend to think of our pickups as huge tradesman vehicles we try to use for everything and they did start out that way, particularly on farms. What you're missing is we pulled away from the station wagons we always had in favor of pickups. Station wagons are versatile vehicles but I wouldn't want to take one to a difficult to reach camping spot, or have to rent a truck because I can only fit so much in the back of my wagon. When you really break it down, especially looking at older American wagons and pickups they were very comparable engine and economy wise. Our pickups are just family wagons with a separate, more capable trunk. A large portion of people have grown up with pickups in North America and the bumpy-ish ride you don't even really notice. The long brake is because when they bite quick it can be jarring in a tall, long, vehicle. Long pedal is much easier to modulate safely, especially while towing. Our roads are bigger, distances between places are longer, real several thousand mile road trips are a thing because America is a lot bigger than most people realize. Having all your bags, cooler, tent, stove, heater, all in the bed is very nice and out of the way. And with a bed cover or canopy it's even more versatile. I get that it could see odd to see so many but it's just a versatile family hauler. A typical American home probably has a pickup or large SUV and commuter car. We, for the most part, also try to make economical choices with our engines and configuration and which vehicle to drive. A v8 Mercedes estate may be more fun to drive but isn't half as useful and probably gets similar fuel economy to the average pickup. Just my two cents

It's funny to hear Europeans talk about this truck like its huge. Over here in the US, the F150 is a mid sized pickup truck. If you're serious about hauling or getting work done with your truck, you go for the F250 or another HD class truck which is even more yuge.
@jakes55303 жыл бұрын
You forgot that the F150 offers blind spot monitoring with trailer coverage. That means you can tow your expensive boat or rv or horses and not ever have the fear of changing lanes into another vehicle.

So the F150 has multiple engine options you've mentioned including the V8, yet you're complaining about the V6 option that YOU picked. So lame.

@@johnhanson4795 agreed. Freaking love forced induction. Like, I understand why some folks like naturally aspirated.. in some ways it's not dissimilar to the smooth power delivery on an electric engine. But my god I love getting the revs up and it just comes to life. Plus: you get better efficiency for using turbos too. It's a win-win!

I have the 3.5 twin turbo super crew cab XLT. I love the styling, build, and capabilities. What he missed on the review is the crappy automation programming like how the opt-out auto engine stop just wears out the starter because it usually shuts off just before you need to go, and doesn't save fuel. It should be triggered off by a steering wheel button, not automation. Also how almost all the dash settings default back to factory each time you start the truck is maddening, and how you need the keys in the ignition to power the dome light buttons even if you're just trying to turn them off. Rocker switches would be better than push buttons so you can see which buttons are set to the on position. The menus and button positioning are illogical. The weak headlights are criminal, I had to buy aftermarket LED "bulbs." These easy to fix irritations needlessly spoil an otherwise great truck.
