It wouldn't be so bad if the cars included a bathroom and kitchen. You still can't even get a decent OEM stereo these days from car manufacturers when you spend $50,000. It's still an "Option"from the Dealership. But you do get a Touchscreen that doesn't retract. That's always helpful with MPG and in an accident. lol (It's probably what caused the accident.) lol If Apes can work buttons, why can't humans?

Amazes me that Ford's CEO basically _just_ figured out that Working class, blue-collar guys, can't afford $70,000+ Work trucks. Seriously? Talk about delusional. And, anyone who CAN afford a truck for that much money, sure as heck isn't looking to buy a basic Work truck.
@churchking252717 күн бұрын
I think the cost of regulations (and EV mandates) is forcing their hand. They are hiding the extra costs under luxury features. The noise and emissions regulations are forcing them to make smaller and smaller turbo engines, that are unreliable and under powered.

@@GannDolph Add a radio. Add A/C so the Worker in the work truck can work during the Summer months, and everyone who needs a REAL work truck will happily buy one. My first was a 1960 F250 2wd, with a three speed manual transmission which I got by doing some concrete flat work. The target price for a middle of the line pickup truck should be around $40,000 today, in my opinion. $70k is so far out of reach to most people that it is not even funny.
@marksmith892817 күн бұрын
I did the math. A 1958 Imperial limosine, which I admit, does not have all the electronics that are available today, translates to $65,000 in today's money, which will get you a basic pick up truck. Automobile manufacturers and consumers are both broken. It can't continue forever.

You bring up a good point that I personally have been thinking for years now. Why are we as a society going bigger and heavier vehicles when a wise man would think that we should be going to smaller more efficient vehicles? What happened to the CAFE standards? The big auto companies are profiting big time by creating the illusion of BIG costs more! Some argue that people want those oversized SUV's and Trucks! the truth is can't find many well equipped sedans or wagons anymore. All the effort and focus is SUV's and pick up Trucks. There is something seriously wrong here!!
@nightwolf972317 күн бұрын
CAFE standards are making vehicles bigger. To meet the standard, the vehicles have to get 45-50+ mpg... But if you make the vehicles a little bit bigger, they only have to get 27-35 mpg. As the standards get stricter, the vehicles will get bigger.

When is "enough" - "Enough"? Trump and Musk are the only 2 billionaires in the world that actually still stand up for what is Right. And believe even the little people deserve a voice. The rest? Could help so many people, yet hoard their money and do nothing. Because most billionaires think "there are too many (poor) people in the world and I should do something about it - by not helping them. 1 Billion. 20 Billion. 50 Billion. And yet they still need "More". Bill Gates has a "Charity". It's just a "Loophool" for his assets so he doesn't have to pay "taxes". He doesn't have enough money to pay taxes. Besides, he's "Special" from you and me and shouldn't have to pay taxes. Bill Gates donates most of his money to colleges and businesses trying to "genetically modify everything", and to Abortion clinics. Joy. That really helps society. But Your comment is "on target". Except one thing. Nobody is making any money at the moment. Ooops. That's what DEI will do to you everytime. "No Profits - Just Failure". Kinda like "Stupidity". But with ample amounts of evil one can overcome stupidity. lol Peace. (I'm an accountant, and I've always taken the view that the "Pie" is big enough for everyone to have a piece. The prices are outrageous. There is no need for vehicle to be over $20,000 and I’m talking pick up truck. I can’t believe I was a construction company Owner and I needed my trucks to work with. I can’t imagine spending $80,000 on a work truck, my work truck or anywhere from $20-$30,000 and that’s what I paid for these last two that I own the owner of Ford and Dodge would roll over in their grave to find out that a normal working class citizen of United States cannot afford a vehicle. The American car industry has taken advantage of the market citizens, and I wish all of the vehicles coming into the United States are Chinese there are Chinese vehicles and I know this for a fact that are under $20,000 that are considered luxury vehicles compared to our American counterparts that are worth right now 60 to 100,000 America needs to wake up. Do not buy American made products until these products come down in price. There is no need for this exorbitant price.

Of course you can. Or are you too proud or just plain lazy. If you dont know how properly there are people that can teach you. The life expectancy of automotive paint goes way way up just washing it. A new car was very rarely seen. I distinctly remember the guy right next door, who was a union oiler for heavy equipment brought home a 1952 black Plymouth sedan that had 325,000 miles on it. It had a straight 6 L head engine, and it ran like a Swiss Watch. That engine had an oil bath air cleaner, and a glass fuel bowl under the carburetor with a brass filter, both cleanable and reusable. I have to laugh at the tree huggers that are touting electric vehicles. Wait till those used batteries start catching fire in the junk yards.

Before buying a vehicle at today's prices make sure looking for the long haul. Rent out a vehicle for a vacation for a week. It could prevent buying a vehicle on a 30 minute test ride.

Good thing I know how to do my own maintenance, and know how to work on a BMW. Huge potential cost savings.

Indeed you will have to know how to do it yourself!

sorry- so much to say, here...EV technology is impressive...but not cost effective for most people, and doesn't deliver anywhere near the "environmental savings" that they purport to...they're also killing the auto industry as a whole...
@ECPP17 күн бұрын
Yes the auto industry is flailing right now as a result

California Supreme Court just ruled that our state’s Lemon Law does NOT apply to used vehicles. That just killed the higher priced used vehicle market in California. IMO

Who needs this garbage except business people only. Joe who is on City support eating salad can't afford to fuel up this junk machine. Show cars for the people not for those who charge with low-quality jobs performs and are drunk 24/7

We need EV charging stations with solar panels and wind turbines to power the station. Using oil to provide electricity doesn't save the earth.

What amazes me the most is how low concious we're ceo's of car making in past ,if they whould have slowly increased the prices for cars to be able to afford they'r transition's to electric cars ,they whould'nt have to do that nowadays when the world is even less likely to pay more for less ( quality of cars overall is drastically down in my opinion ) ,it was pretty obvious for more then 15 years that ev's will be the future and they whould have to prepare And now they suffer .. and more important they'r employee

EV’s are niche vehicles. Great for the commuter who can charge overnight or at work. Not great for longer highway trips. I can only see an EV truck being good for local runs, maybe a contractor in urban settings. Forget pulling trailers or carrying any heavy cargo any distance. Forget a week long camping trip in the western US.

130 for a truck imagine taking an old Powerstroke Duramax whatever and putting a hundred thousand dollars in customizations into it it would be 10 times cooler and better than that thing
