Foreigners try INDONESIAN STREET FOOD for the FIRST TIME

We found an awesome few days in Nusa Penida south of Bali and got to try a variety of Indonesian Street Food.
Here is the street food we tried on this tour:
- Nasi Goreng & Mie Goreng: fried rice and fried noodles. A staple of Indonesian cuisine. You can't travel to Indonesia without having it at least once! (12,000IDR)
- Martabak Telor: a deep friend Indonesian style omelet wrapped in a thin roti (kind of crepe). (18,000IDR 2eggs)
- Teran Bulan: an awesome kind of crepe / waffle / pancake that they will fill with whatever you want. We got the Banana + Peanuts for 12,000IDR
- CapCay: soup dish with a lot of vegetables.Sometimes chicken as you saw... ask for no chicken if you don't want it.
Street food in Indonesia is very inexpensive as you can see - so traveling through the region will be easy for travelers on a budget. If you enjoy watching us trying exotic food then give this video a thumbs up.

I don’t know but I think the street food in Indonesia is available in the Philippines mini food shop. I mean in PH they don’t sell complicated food in the street. Most likely fried and grilled dish which can be cooked for 2 to 3mins. So it’s kinda refreshing that Indonesia has the same streetfood style like in Thailand. But food wise, both PH and ID has a unique food to offer.

It's interesting for me to see how you compared ID and PH foods. Not everyone would get it until they tried both. Well done! It's going to be hard. We almost have the same cuisine and composition but it only differs on how it is being cooked and texture. I wonder if you tried the counter parts of those Indonesian Foods here in the Philippines. We have our very own noodles with different variations and some classic empanadas and breads that are way different than in Europe.

nasi goreng is a specialty dish, each region in Indonesia has its uniqueness, so the nasi goreng you eat in bali could be very different than in East java, West Java and Central java, even in east java we even got 4 kinds of fried rice/nasi goreng.In Malang you will find a trending nasi goreng which was introduced by student based small business that went to college in malang, called Nasi Goreng Rempah or spicy Nasi Goreng, the one that started it all was Nasi Goreng Rempah Mafia. in Surabaya if you would visit a NASI GORENG JAWA stall you will be presented with a seafood tasted nasi goreng, they mix a grounded ebi/small shrimp or even bandeng fish in the seasoning that will give you a nice texture. In Kediri you will find a rather mild nasi goreng, mixed with a bit of shrimp paste but cooked with coal, it gives a bbq taste with a mild salty taste. The last one is available In Most regions of East Java, it is mandarin/chinese style nasi goreng. In Padang sumatra, you will find a spicy nasi goreng with a special "Padang" flavor. I presume that's everything that i had tasted, have fun finding new taste of nasi goreng in all of Indonesia!

You will find a hundred variety of street food, such as variety of bakso, variety of soto, variety of sate/satay, batagor, siomay, mie ayam, mie yamin, kwetiau, seblak, cilok, bandros, sorabi, rujak, variety of fried chicken/duck/cat fish, nasi goreng, martabak, pecel, gado-gado, karedok, ketoprak, lontong sayur, basreng, cireng, cilor, risoles, lemper, awug, cimol, gorengan, es tebu, es doger, es cincau, cendol, and many more hahaha... have a nice trip!

honestly, you can't say that Filipino street food has a greater variety as you tried the food street in Bali only. you must try food street at other island also.some island they have different food street. for instance, you must try the food street in Bandung, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Medan, Palembang, and many more. for your recommendation you must try these food, Batagor, cilok, cireng, kupat tahu, bakso, seblak, ketoprak, gado-gado, lotek, serabi, and many more.

Indonesians are creative when it comes to food. It is estimated that sate was created by street food traders in Java around the beginning of the 19th century, based on the fact that satay became popular in the early of 19th century along with the arab traders, gujarat india and other Muslim traders who came to Java island. .This food is a form of adaptation of the kebab brought by Muslim traders from Gujarat. This is also the reason for the popular use of mutton and sheep as sate which is preferred by people of Arab descent. Initially, Indonesian people cook meat by boiling. But after knowing kebab which is a typical cuisine of the middle east,Indonesian also like to eat the beef or goat by burning (grill). This is the beginning of sate as the favorite food of Indonesian people at that time. The word satay was estimated to come from the Tamil language, the catai which means meat. And there are dozens of variants of satay in Indonesia such sate padang, sate madura, sate maranggi, sate klatak etc

Indonesia had a special food by the time and event, for example is very rare to find "Nasi Uduk" or "Lontong sayur" in afternoon or night, you only find those in early morning in 6-9. And ketupat or kolak is very rare to find except in Ramadhan. These food is like Indonesia hidden treasure. And i Will tell you one of the lost arc food "KUE PUTU". Hope you'll find it.👍

Actually, it's "Terang Bulan". Terang bulan is a brother of Martabak Telor. In Jakarta we usually called it Martabak Manis. The different are Terang Bulan use peanuts, chocolate jam, peanuts jam, or anything else that sweet and Martabak Telor use vegetables and eggs. And Mostly you can choose between duck egg or chicken egg. I recommend he duck egg tho.

I've been to Manila, I kinda love the people, about street food I had to be honest, Indo street food much better than what I found in Manila. I only love the banana fried that served on a stick, I dunno the name.. but I love Manila alot.. despite of the crazy traffic.. its a place to find please 😅😅😅, btw I'm Indonesian

She been complaining about the martabak manis in jkt. Especially when now she is 3 months pregnant she wants martabak manis. I don't know where to find in Philippines as I can only find it in indonesia.

I love Asian food:Indonesia and Thai the second one. For European I love Italian food . For dessert definitely Indonesia and European flavor.

Actually, there were more herbs and spices traditionally being used in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore than in the Philippines because of the ancient trade route established by the British from the Mediterranean to India and down to Singapore, from where those goodies found their way to the two other neighboring countries in the Southeast. Unfortunately, the Philippines was and still is geographically out of the loop as it can be reached only by air and sea. But with not as much herbs and spices traditionally available then, the creativity and adventurism of the Filipinos have enabled them to make a lot of what little they had. So, thanks to the Galleon Trade between the Philippines and Mexico for somehow enriching the Filipinos' culinary resources, albeit more European-American than Asian. No wonder that at present, practically all of the cuisines of the world are getting fusioned into the Filipino dishes and vice versa as can be observed in Manila's numerous food hubs. The heterogeneity of the Filipino culture and the country's increasing cosmopolitan demographics help make this possible.

Gorengan, martabak, nasi goreng, mie goreng n capcay are sort of foods u can find anywhere in indonesia. No matter u are in bai, java, sumatra, papua, etc u will find them so easily in wvey place bcz they are kinda very very popular street food for indoneaians. Nice job guys☺😄

Indonesia is vast & has plenty of food culture. The ones you eat are the common ones. Try more authentic ones next time such as : soto, satay, gado gado, pecel, putu, etc. Different area has different food. Come to Borneo next time 😊. The Eastern part of Indonesia is very beautiful & not as touristy.

Come to palembang south Sumatera has so many typical food! Pempek,model,lenggang,lakso,laksan,burgo,pempek bakar,mie tektek and many more its different than the typical food of another provinces and i suggest you to try that food in Floating food market in Musi river beside of Ampera bridge ☺️

i don't understand why people judge other people's culture. It might be weird and disgusting to you, but might be delicious to others. It just depends on your taste and how you were raise.
