FORGE SMART SPACER BOOST LEAK!? - Renault Megane RS trophy

In this weeks video i am diving into a very recent suprise i found out, that the megane has a boost leak...
Now the issue is 1 of 2 things... Either the forge motorsport smart spacer OR my OEM recirc valve has given up...

Just being honest mate... I'm not bashing the product either but i feel it needs a revision maybe? 🤷 I'll keep you guys in the loop regarding how i get on with forge

i have the GFB DV and i mate really good figures on the dyno at RS tuning. Id say go for that mate its defo an upgrade but make sure you buy the correct revision of the GFB, cant remember if the GFB comes oiled or not... I know after a while they do need oiled a little as maintance.

Had the GFB on my m135i, solid part that they made. Not a big fan of the spacer, I would like to have something that’s more than just sound. Happy that the boost leak was not something bigger.

Yeah i ran the gfb on my clio trophy before this, quietened down my intake quite alot. Great mod though!

What about placing a thin and flat rubber gasket where the piston of the valve is in contact with the metal where normally we should have a recess ? It should work to ensure there is no leak at all between those 2 parts.

The leak isn't either of the o rings mate, its from the centre

Ash, thanks for feedback, I have two of these spacers installed on both Megane 4 RS Trophy and I didn't notice anything yet. Maybe we should contact Forge Motorsport to have some advice about this issue ? Maybe some gasket sealant on the surfaces in contact will do the job ? I don't know.

Have you remapped yours? I'm thinking of getting one as the first little mod I do to my 280 just to get some more noise without spending over £200, maybe as Ash said, it's not built to handle the added boost from the remap.

Do you reckon it might be worth having the map checked? As it was mapped with the spacer on I'm guessing that the blow-by was happening when it was mapped too. If you're getting slightly more boost pressure it could be running a tad leaner. Not that it would be massive I wouldn't have thought.

I don't think it'll be a major issue. Could be wrong. Like you said it's peace of mind. If you do end up with a gfb diverter valve let us all know where you get it. The only one I can find is the forge recirc valve which I'm ordering. Good to have you back as well. Think you're the only one doing any proper content on the mk4's 👊🏻👍🏻

Oow interesting. Would love to know if there is design floor in them. Wondering if to remove mine now :S But I do like the noise it makes...

I don't think the noise is worth the performance mate personally... The open filter still mates a good noise 👌🔥

@@VersionOneUK So you think it's always been like that? You do wonder why Forge never added a seal down there. Have the mentioned anything about it being a defect?

@@SuperSnoopy78 i think thats the case mate yes... Like i say I don't know for sure how much boost is getting by but if smokes with fairly lowish pressure is getting through i'd imagine quite a bit. I have informed forge of the issue so may need a revision, but I'll keep you all updated

And the moral of the story is, leave things alone, most aftermarket parts people fit are the parts that are at fault and most end up putting standard parts back anyway.

i have the GFB DV and iv had mine mapped and made the most torque of any MK4 RS iv seen mapped by paul at RS tuning. Could this be a factor? its possbile. Either way, im going to say its an upgrade. If we all had that mentally (which i assume is if it aint broke dont fix it, or in this case upgrade) no one would get aftermarket anything.

Those Forge spacers are trash bought one for my 208 GTi but never fitted it because it still used the standard diaphragm

I got it to do a video mate, i don't want to start chopping stuff up for a bov so I'll probably just get a GFB diverter valve soon. Was basically a test to see if it was any good for noise for people that like easy mods
