What he did was worse than murder. He relegated a normal, healthy person to a life of suffering and torment, and the parents and siblings now have to spend the rest of their lives caring for someone who is a shadow of someone they knew and loved. This sort of crime is the reason that the death penalty exists.

Obviously in this situation it's an extremely just punishment, however, there are a lot of teenagers and younger people who are convicted to harsh sentances for crimes that aren't even crimes if you drive one or two states over. While I agree that they should be treated justly, lesser, non sexual and non repeat violence offences shouldn't follow someone throughout their entire life, IF they've made the conscientious effort to change.

Just because you know right from wrong at a pretty early age, it doesn't mean your immature judgement will stop you from doing wrong things. I grew up in this town and I remember hearing about this story fresh when I was a young girl. I am now 20 years old and attending the university she was supposed to be going to on a full ride scholarship, just like she was supposed to have. Every time I go into a public library I think of her and her story brings me to tears. She should be doing the things I am like studying, working hard towards her career, and making college memories with friends. The man who did that to her is not human. I can't even wrap my head around the pain she went through. If there really is a hell, he is going to something far far worse. I can't believe a young man at the age of 16 could be so vile and evil. I will always remember her and hope for the best for her and her family. It's so painful the things women have to go through and the level of awareness we all have to keep even in places as seemingly safe as a library. The men who do crimes like this all deserve life sentences and nothing lesser. If only this world wasn't plagued by such evils....

@@red94mr28 But couldn't there be no god and evil still not exist. You really didn't answer the question. This plane of existence is clouded in a veil, hiding the fact that we exist in infinite planes all at once. The suffering we endure here is what represses or grows our soul, It gets us ready for our next form of existence. The freedom that we have in us to commit evil, is the same freedom that we have to create love. If god prevented these evil acts it would in turn handicap the growth of our collective soul. @@johnnymccreery4692 "But couldn't there be..." YT never notified me of your post. Nope. A few examples of systems of faith/worship where there is no god (or God) are Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Combined, they represent over 600 million followers or 8% of the global population. The core tenets of these religions include morality. Among this group, murders are still committed though much less than in external groups. So, no God/god yet evil acts. Thus, evil exists in the absence of god. The belief of a "soul" and "our next form of existence" is purely a personal mythological or apocryphal belief system. There is no physical or scientific proof of either, especially the latter. It is no more believable than ancient Greek mythological folklore.

OP simply asked "why does such evil exist?" You are the one who brought god into this. I wonder why you feel the need to bring up god when you don't believe. My point was that you never answered the actual question, because the actually question did not ask anything about god. You literally just asked more questions... That was the Old Testament. You need to read what God says about it according to the New Testament. An " eye for an eye" was under the Law. Forgive men their trespasses is under the New Covenant because of Jesus Christ and Gods love for all. Read the Book! I'm talking about the Bible.

If "god" didn't waste it's time blessing this judge maybe it could stop the next savage assault or stop priests and ministers from raping children. Instead, "god" does nothing. Get your head out of your arse. There is likely no god. If there is, it is absent, uncaring or malevolent.

steelerfan 1933 My friend, hear me out. You’ve likely heard these things before, but just hear me out. The Bible is very clear. The consequence of sin is death. Satan is the author of sin, and we humans chose to build our domains in sin. The absence of God is why these things happen. Humans abusing our free will to commit atrocity. Now I’ll answer your question. Why does He not interfere in these things? Simple. He plays by His own rules, and is allowing sin to run rampant until He says enough is enough. In many cases, God will actually use suffering for atonement or betterment. In this case, I am far from understanding why the hell this happened. It makes me angry, but then again, there will always be lapses in human understanding. It reminds me of Noah, when God flooded the Earth. He could’ve swooped in and “redeemed” or “saved” all who were wicked, and not have had to destroy anyone. But then again, we’re not God. We lack the moral authority and understanding to determine that. It could be just as easy to say that those wicked people didn’t desire God, with the exception of Noah. Even their children would’ve grown into sin and death. It’s as if a father witnessed his child murdering family, and even through reconciliation, the child wouldn’t stop. So instead, the father culls his child and begins anew. The father is heartbroken, but it’s what has to happen. God had four options for creation. To not create, to create an amoral world, to create a world where only good is allowed, or a world where both good and evil are possible. In only one of those is love possible. It’s through human abuse of free will do we land ourselves in these situations.

@@steelerfan1933 you are either a child or extremely stupid. What makes good in this world? What makes bad? Without one, you can have the other. Im not gonna spend all day on this but im sure a 10 min google search could answer your question quickly. If you dont have the free will to commit bad act, then you cant be good. You cant be anything because you have no free will. You would be a mindless rabbit that lives off nothing but natural instincts

He gets raped and beaten every day. I can assure everyone of that. Most men in prison are hard, but when pedos and rapists get into population, prison justice takes over. Even criminals draw the line. I remember when Mary Jean Armstrong got to mci. She had sold her 2 young girls time to drug dealers. She was beaten so hard her jaw broke in 2 places, and she had multiple broken ribs amongst many other injuries. Street justice always prevails in the system.
