This is about control. His absolute refusal to answer her questions, while forcibly asking his own over and over again, is an attempt to break down her resolve and take control of the conversation. When she doesn't allow him to do that, he becomes angry and throws tantrums. Every time it is demonstrated to him that he is not in control of the proceedings, his composure crumbles and he behaves like a spoiled child. It’s according to one’s location, but I was paid $12 per day and that income is taxed by the IRS, so one must file a 1099 for that income on their end of year income tax filing. I think Wisconsin pays a whopping $16 per day. In my area it is rare that the Employer pays their employee’s salary while serving as a juror, but your unpaid absence is excused while serving and will not count against your work record. You are still responsible for paying your health insurance premiums and other deductions like uniforms , life insurance, etc that you have through your Employer. (the deductions that are normally subtracted from your earnings). It is one’s civic duty to serve on a duty and insuring a fair trail for all by a jury of your peers IS considered the payment. It clearly isn’t the $12 a day, which hardly pays the gas to get the juror to the courthouse, a cheap lunch, then back home every day. I think Federal Court pays jurors $50. per day. Just sayin’.
