Hey Frank, great video. One correction for you though, in method 1 you chose the third measurement box. That will measure from the outside of the wall of the helmet to the other outside of the wall of the helmet which means you're getting the wall thickness in the measurement too. You should choose the second measurement type for an inside measurement. Method #2 is fire!

I am thinking about getting a 3d printer. Still researching, the main things I want to 3d print are Star Wars helmets, this would help me out to learn how to scale, but I was also wondering about how much filament roles does it take to make 1 helmet, and also what 3d printer would be the best for printing helmets and in price range?
@damionpratt98442 жыл бұрын
I really do wish I had watched this video. Before I started anything I had tried to print a helmet for the print to fail a quarter into it to see the helmet wouldn't have fitted as expected and scaled it up and it was too big for my head. I could always add padding to it but honestly it doesn't look practical at all but still could be a cool display prop.

There is a 4th option with fusion 360. take front, top and side veiws and scale them, extrude and the bodies you have use use intersect commend to get a rough of your head then use fillets to closly match you head. and that should work good enough. .... This process in total i am thinking could take at most an hour, if one doesnt have a 3d scanner would be best option

I really like the idea of scaling down a helmet to make it fit nice, but I think I would like it just a bit oversized so i can fit foam padding inside to make long term wear more comfortable for cons and such.
