Ok guys some background info. The white patrol developed a fuel pump issue. what made things worst, is the driver stalled the patrol (due to lack of power, caused by fuel pump issue) and couldn't get it started. General consensus was get the patrol out of the way so other vehicles can drive around. The young fella in the Maroon LandCruiser put his vehicle on the line and payed the price. The crew asosated with the patrol hung around most of the day, helping and pushing bogged 4wds out, and there was a lot of them! All in all good day of action Lesson's were learnt. Happy days.

The Auto takes away a lot of factors that limit an inexperienced driver in a manual vehicle in the sand. For Example, the correct gear selection and changing gear. I can drive a clutch with the best of them but prefer a Semi Automatic paddle shifter :)
@alexfrankl78614 жыл бұрын
@@gqwarrior6694 ive been driving purely manuals for 30years , i love manuals , but will have to admit that my auto D Max is a way better tool for towing and serious off road work then my manual D Max . Apart from being gentler on the drive components you cant beat the seemless gear changes without the loss of drive , in particular down shifts . Also getting a gcm maxed vehicle going on an incline you just cant beat a torque converter . Rock crawling for example , i can hold the ute inplace and gently pick way up with less stress on cv's . Dont get me wrong , i still like a manual and they are capable , but the modern auto is just better and i hate to admit it .
@gqwarrior66944 жыл бұрын
@@alexfrankl7861 For serious rock crawling, yes, an auto is the better weapon. Weaker & more prone to problems but as far as just driving it goes, yes, it offers more control than a manual. Seamless changes don't mean much. If you have selected the correct gear to start with, you're not changing gear. It doesn't get more seamless than that. On serious rocks though, there's a real risk of burning out a manual clutch if the driver is riding it too much. Driver skill & offroad experience is a large factor in how much of a risk that is though. I find I tend to drive smoothly through obstacles that most autos are stop/starting though. Autos are ok in the right situation but for me, there's way too many down sides to ever consider owning one, especially a modern auto that's full of electronics.

Maverick Offroad how you you rate the Jeep Wranglers?
@gqwarrior66944 жыл бұрын
@@Trueyarn247 That depends on a couple of things. They are capable enough but the build standard here in Australia isn't the same as it is in the USA, so they have a well earned reputation for being very unreliable. Add to that parts are rather expensive & not easily available once you get out of major cities & I don't think they are a wise choice in Australia. In the USA though where they are very common & built to a higher standard with better parts, I think they are probably a great choice for wheeling. I'm not a fan of the very low ANCAP rating they have. A new vehicle really should have a better rating.
@Trueyarn2474 жыл бұрын
Maverick Offroad I can agree with build standard because you have to replace weak parts with stronger ones. But I’d like to say that the case with any heavy off-roader. Jeeps aren’t built for safety 😉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYKmo4aegp2jra8 Thanks for you opinion 👍

@@Trueyarn247 Are you based in America or Australia or somewhere else? Here in Australia, I'm yet to find a Jeep owner that has said parts are cheap & when you're away from major towns, waiting weeks for Jeep parts is a very common complaint. In some cases, replacement parts have simply not been available at all. Check out SideTracked Australia if you want to see an instance of that happening. When I say unreliable, I mean engine & transmission. Not easily upgradable parts like suspension & axles. Jeeps here are notorious for transmission & TC failures.

Maverick Offroad Australia mate. I do know parts and repairs for the diesel is expensive. Because it’s VM Motori diesel motors. But the Chrysler v6 is easy. I haven’t had to chase up any major engine or trans parts for the v6 so I really can’t say. Just what I know from the state jeep community. No dramas with trans with me yet. Aftermarket oil coolers are recommended for all off roading wranglers. Yeah I can’t speak for rural jeep owners either. I actually meant how to your rate them Offroad in the sand? Had to pull many out ? I know its the mainly the driver skill. I haven’t gotten bogged yet . 😅

Man oh man if I were a teenager I’d be buying a shitheap tractor with me mates and charging $20 per recovery. You’d make a fortune and I’d be more than happy to part with the money for a good recovery.

That’s why you use those little orange straps, so you don’t lose your $150 track in the sand.

This is seriously soft sand. People automatically assume you're at 40 psi because you get bogged. You'd get stuck with 15psi like I have. Got out with 8 psi and some digging and very careful taking wide turns.
