T & P, I'm a pensioner trying to finish the refit plus covering some relatively minor medical situations without insurance. If I could, I'd spare you guys a few Aussie dollars and Kevin on "Sailing Oceans" a few bucks happily. Sadly It's not in the budget if we plan to untie the lines this year. Keep the great content coming... It's great stuff!. G King SV Intition

One of your best. When you were talking about watching for chaf on the furling line it reminded me of a delivery of a Roberts 45. We lost the furling line at night with 50 knots out in the bite. To get the heady in we motored to wind into a huge sea. Two crew crawled to the bow and used a winch handle between the foil and luff to furl the sail. Being calm on the outside whilst you're screaming on the inside makes you a good skipper.

Armchair expert comment. We have a cutter rig with a hanked staysail on a moveable wire forstay which is great when wind is over30 The roller head sail only sets decently when rolled less than half and still we're overpowered So the staysail headstay is tensioned onto foredeck tack by a big pelican tackle and the cutter goes to work Beauty!

WOW!!! Well done you two and my hats off to ya captain. 50 knots in that little boat had to have been one hell of a ride and you showed a hell of a lot of skill in getting her in safely. Your little vessel is definitely well built and designed as that passage proved. It may not have been a jaunt across the pond so to speak but that would have been more than enough excitement for me. It's also something I wouldn't even attempt without your experience/skill. Again well done you two, Troy for knowing what and how to do it and Passy for keeping her calm when obviously just a bit terrified... As always fair winds, safe travels and God Bless...

Great to see a REAL sailorman in action, Troy! Thanks for the ride! BTW, you remind me of the late Ronald Ryan - a true sailorman, he had two Liberty Ships shot out from under him in WWII, sailed his 28 footer from NYC to the Canaries, Spain, Greece, and back to Florida. He was my business partner and is sorely missed, but I know he's sailing somewhere in the dreams of eternity.

Oh man.. I have a new favourite episode now! There's nothing I love more than cranking along, rail down, in a small boat in blustery conditions. Thrilling, with just a light edge of anxiety about it. For some strange reason though, the girls below deck get upset when the portlights are under water! Anyhow.. this is all good practice for when you get down into more southern waters. A suggestion for you, Troy; you may want to consider making yourselves a Jordan Series Drogue. Might come in handy if you get caught out down south to the point where heaving to is no longer cutting it.
