I'm 60 years old and remember reading the adventures of Robin Knox Johnston, Joshua Slocum, Sir Francis Chitchester, I could go on. My family did a lot of sailing as a kid around the Chesapeake Bay, I have been all over the East Coast from Plymouth, Mass, to Charleston, SC. But as I grew up and had a family, I got away from sailing. Watching your channel brings back some nice memories. So glad you are to do this while your are young.

@@sv-uw1lc That sounds nice and all, but you can't expect an old man in his 80s-90s to maintain a boat on his own. Our bodies put a limit on what we can do once we hit a certain age.

EVERY PART of this is just SOOOO good! I lived, solo, on my 30 Catalina for 8 years. I really appreciate all the subtexts of this video. Selecting a anchorage, setting a safety on the anchor, the housekeeping........All of these things contribute to the safety and enjoyment of sailing well done.... Liked/Subbed

Thanks for be such a refreshing channel and not making things look 100% rosy. You probably get really board and get on each others nerves on occasion. I am glad to see you are very amenable people and love each other very much. You also appreciate each other's faults and obviously the good stuff. Troy I hope your leg is healed from the ooopppsy burn.

Just FYI Pure RAW Honey is the best thing you can put on burns. It is antibiotic- antimicrobial and antiseptic. Some Burn hospitals have used it and say it works better than any burn ointment on the market. I would suggest getting it from a bee keeper and not the store. Most of what you buy in the store has been heated and filtered removing all the good stuff in it. Or it has been mixed with corn syrup because it is cheaper. Thank you for sharing your story with us less fortunate folks.

I had a hospital put honey on a drain tube exiting my body post surgery. They said it was to keep the wound dry. Evidently honey also absorbs fluids on surface wounds.

Can believe it. We mix honey and salt as a cure for fish and it pulls plenty of moisture out of the meat. It's so anti-microbial that we can leave that out of the fridge for days while it works until we smoke it.

I have never commented before but this time I couldn't resist, you Guys always (usually) make me laugh and my Mrs looks at me as if I'm nuts.....I probably am 'cause I am obliged to wear headphones and She doesn't see what/who I am laughing at (normally Pascale, her laugh is so infectious). Great sailing Guys I never got the guts to go blue water in the boat (32 foot sloop) I crewed on in Pittwater. We also competed in Winter races with skeleton crews only with no spinnakers allowed, they were the best but you soon learnt to wear woollen jumpers to keep warm, 'specially when working hard to windward. But all that was 55 years ago before I got married!!!

You can eat them Swiss "rösti" way (with chopped onions and bacon mixed in, and an egg "sunny side up" on top), Hungarian/Balkan way (with a stew-sauce), Russian(sort of)way (with fish roe or pickled fish), northern-Polish way (with sour cream and sugar *but they have to be smaller and quite crispy), German way (with sour cream and apple sauce, *also smaller and crispy), ... the list goes on :) Ah! You know about rösti! Bon appétit!

When I left, I had a top of the line Mac and it did take a lot of power. Unfortunately, that computer had an accident. Now I'm using a 13" airbook, i5 with only 8gig and I find DaVinci works just as well on this machine. Things are a bit smaller in preview, but other than that, it's the same - except my power consumption is much lower! Cheers!

Hey guys i am in our winter mode now as we just had a 20cm snow fall and i am working at clearing the roads for cars to drive safely. We will be at this until the end of March. As for myself we had our well dug this past summer for our new home, we hope should go up in two years, free of mortgage .We were lucky with the well as we hit 600gl/hr (2724lt/hr)at 100ft deep or 30m. We also installed and wired our windmill to charge our battery pack, next summer i intend to install the solar panels we have (3x275watt panels). In January we will be buying our windows and doors for the house and storing them in our 40 ft container until the build. The manufacturing company gives out 20% discount when we buy them in January since it is their slow time of the year. There are still a few expensive items we need to buy before the build as we are both still working full time. We aim to be mortgage free by the time we move in and retire in our paradise in the woods. For the past three years we have been investing between 20and 30,000.00$/yr to achieve our goal. As you on your beautiful boat our wooded lots is our paradise. It gives us so much peace and quietness when we are there compared to the hectic life we live right now in the city.We started late in life to do this and now wished we had started earlier. By the time we are there i will be 67 and my wife 65 but very eager to get there. When we are gone it will be to our kids and grandkids . We are doing all the work and installation to required specification so they can easily sell it if they want to. We hope to be there for many years to come but no one knows when we will kick the bucket (LOL). You guys were wise to do what your doing at an early age, where you are in good shape and can enjoy it for as long as you want. Be free and open minded, enjoy yourself and do what you want and not bother what others think. Respect others beliefs but do your thing. There will always be people out there who think they know best and will suggest, do this and not that but never do anything themselves. They will claim high and loud that you are not in the right, that they have THE way. Do your thing while having the time of your life. Be safe
