Funny story about this btw So I had put this down for some reason (Maybe Arena?) and I hadn't played it for months. Then I come back to see that the DLC is on sale or whatever so I'm like :Hey, why not?" and I throw it in. I decide to hop online and see what's up, pick my Poison/Lili team and get into ranked. At this point I had a nice amount of points, like 10K but I haven't played in forever. So I get into a game with the new character, Jack X and Bryan or whatever, and of course I get wrecked because I don't know how to punish him and all that. I shrug it off and say "Eh, I'm rusty, lemme hit training mode" While in training mode I get a text from my friend. He tells me "Yo, I just watched you get bodied!" I ask how and he said "You were on Fchamp's stream! He was talking all kinds of shit!" On that day I learned that FGTV was Fchamp's online name.

I don't get all the hate SFxT gets. I like this game. The tag mechanics and Tekken characters are wonderfully implemented into Street Fighter's core gameplay. Box Art Mega Man was a joke character from conception and I don't know why people refuse to see the humor in it. The 12 character DLC thing was bullshit, yes, but does that really make the game unplayable? You just get the DLC thing and bam, you have 12 new characters to play around with. I will agree with the fact that gems are stupid, though.

All of the systems in this game are negative so as to be pointless. EVERYONE DOES THE SAME DAMAGE. The only optimal combos are tag assaults which requires almost no skill.

+LOL DUDE The game is not bad per say, it's that Capcom hyped really hard and the game just turned really dissapointing. Those cinematic trailers/cutscenes that looks absolutely gorgeous depicted a story of the Street Fighter VS Tekken universe that seemed so intense, edgy but still amazing that every one wanted to know. Instead we got nothing than just a flaccid as fuck Arcade Mode. The game was broken and unbalanced at launch, which not only made some characters just uninteresting to play, but the netcode made online matches unplayable. They fixed it (except for the online on PC) but it didn't change some flaws like the boost combo that made the neutral game too easy, some character being best at combos than other, etc. The game had good content (trials, missions and all this endings in arcade modes) but most DLCs that were absolutely finished (including 12 finished characters) were locked to be sold next year, which pretty much killed the game. This is a game that could have been great if it wasn't made during the time Capcom decided to be stupid and greedy.

The gameplay problems have been fixed. Jabs were too strong. You could make things safe by spending a meter. There was no risk for forward rolls. People also complained that there were too many timeouts but that's just a result of people playing very safe. SFxT is a game where you can lose a match in 2-3 hits because you only have to kill one character. It was high risk and high reward. So people would just not take many risks and play lame. It's mostly hated because of the on-disc DLC and the bugs that were present in the first few months. It became a joke after those things. It never had a chance to redeem itself. After they fixed the gameplay problems, no one really cared. It was dead on arrival after gems were announced. It had no chance and a shaky launch made things worse.

This game wasn't shit. It just had a lot of controversy surrounding it which killed it in the fighting game community and, specifically, the competitive scene: 1) Discovery of sexual harassment of female players on Cross Assault, 2) DLC gems being overpowered, 3) the timer running out too quickly leading to frequent timeouts, 4) high-damage to opponent was easy to perform by switching in partner to extend long combos, and perhaps, most of all, 5) discovery that DLC already existed in completed form on all disc copies of SFXT at the day of release. If it weren't for these problems, I imagine that the FGC would have played this perhaps slightly longer than it did.

No one really liked the original CvS but the sequel was one of the most beloved games in the FGC. But I doubt Capcom will revisit this franchise after the drama involving the first.

+bennymountain1 Overall, the FGC thinks it's a pile of shit and it came out way too close to Capcom's other tag crossover Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and people were still on a massive high from that. Also, Japan considered this a joke game, so it had no following there either.
