After replacing the ice maker, water inlet valve and filter I decided it was probably a good idea to check the switches for continuity. Turned out to be a bad water dispenser actuator switch, I was able to get a brand new set of 2 off Amazon for like $15. Even though I replace a few parts trying to fix my issue this video still provably saved me $150 to $200 verses paying someone to come diagnose and fix it.

Was only your water not dispensing or ice too? Mine won’t do ice or water. Hoping it’s the switch but I’m scared it’s the main control board we just replaced. 😩😩😩

Great video thank you for sharing. However just to add my experience here so that others don’t have to go through what I did. When my dispenser stopped working I researched online to see what it could be and everyone seemed to say it was the water inlet valve at the rear or a frozen pipe in the door (not likely in the newer fridges) going to the dispenser. After waiting 2 weeks for the inlet valve and after fitting it, it still didn’t work. I tried everything until I removed and emptied the water reservoir behind the salad crisper. When I reattached it I found the reservoir didn’t refill at all. So I checked that good pressure and water was going to the water inlet valve and it was fine. So I removed the clear/white pipe from the inlet valve at the rear that goes to the reservoir/tank and blew in to it but seemed like it was blocked. I then removed it from the reservoir/tank and pulled it out completely and blew into it. Nothing. It’s a 2 foot pipe and the air wouldn’t go through so I waited a few minutes as I thought it was frozen then suddenly it cleared. Voila! There you have it. Reattached everything, the pipe goes back in from inside the fridge easily, and the tank filled up and water and ice is now perfect. Just that 2 foot pipe! 😂

"Repairing a water inlet valve is not recommended, due to risk of the part failing." What they don't tell you is that inlet valve is a piece of plastic that costs $83. I think attempting to fix the part would be the least risky option. Of course, that depends on your definition of risk.

So I was super late changing my filter. Ice was working but water stopped. Bought the new filter because I needed it and ruled out the obvious. The trim ring around my side by side popped off and you can disassemble (pry carefully BUT WAIT). I opened the door and put a space heater blowing on the inside of it. Frozen stuff to my chest freezer. I put string trimmer line up the water tube and hit something 18" in there. It is just a tube that goes through the door and out the bottom by the hinge. That test should have went in at least five feet. Sure enough 45 minutes later tiny sliver ice cubes came out when hitting the water switch (door closed people no water with door open)and I'm back in business.

I had my issue diagnosed: he said that the insulation in the freezer door had broken down, and causes the water line to completely freeze. He recommended replacing the entire freezer door - very costly! (Frigidaire side by side) Is there another solution? Is there a cheap way that I can do this maybe?
@SOULJALOS10 ай бұрын
Pretty much the only thing you can do is possibly find insulation that works with that freezer door/material either 3rd party or from the brand it self though I somehow doubt they would sell the insulation alone I would have the technician show you where and why/how it’s actually broken down and what it’s supposed to look like before moving forward

My ice maker wasn't working but the water dispenser was. I replaced the water inlet valve and now I have no water in either dispenser. There is power to it as I can hear it when the water dispenser is pressed. Any suggestions?

My LG had a big old leak from the 5/16" water line that runs under the refrigerator to the water dispenser from that inlet valve. The floor got wet but I had trouble telling where the water was coming from. Every time I'd push to get water the floor would get wetter and nothing would come out which told me the valve worked fine. I found the hose at Home Depot for $2.38 for 10'.

Question- My fridge water dispenser doesn’t flow water. I test by disconnecting the hose down below the fridge door connecting with an the elbow connector & the hose going up to the fridge water dispenser. When I pressed the water dispenser switch, there’s a strong flow of water from the hose of the water filter but no water will come out in my water dispenser. Could u pls give me with some possible defect of my water dispenser? Thanks.

My name is Alexander Shilling and just recently our whirlpool refrigerator tripped a breaker down in the basement of our house. My dad went to the store and brought a new refrigerator but I am still confused. He hasn’t installed the waterline at the back of the refrigerator just yet.
@repairclinic Жыл бұрын
Double check the outlet voltage and your owners manual. Check if there is proper grounding or if there is an electrical short. Try unplugging it and reset the breaker. If it is an issue with the outlet or breaker you will need an electrician, if it is a short in the refrigerator, you will need to contact your warranty company because your refrigerator is new.

I have a Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator and I changed the water valve but it is still not making ice norr the water is coming out. Water pressure is good the door control panel is good. Attempting to have water dispensers I hear a sound towards the bottom back part of the unit. Any idea how I can fix this?
@aaronbest57374 жыл бұрын
Did u purge the system? I just bought a new fridgedaire some months ago an of coures no instructions . but after some digging the website for instruction manuals on my model i found that u have to dispense water four 4 min sometimes more until u get all the air out an should ateast purge until u can fill a 8 to 12 ounce glass atleast 1 time at minimum. And also make sure your filter is pushed in or water will not pass to the dispensor. The filter itself completes the waterway to the dispensor.
@shericatrett50865 жыл бұрын
So our ice maker doesn't seem to be sending water to the ice maker itself, however, we still get water at the dispenser. Could that be the water inlet valve or the ice maker itself? No frozen ice anywhere.
@JosephSantangelo5 жыл бұрын
Same story here, the flow to the fridge is strong, the water dispenser works perfectly yet there is no water going to the ice maker. The line running up to the top of the fridge is clear, the water inlet is not frozen I replaced the water inlet valve with a new one and the door control lock is unlocked yet no water gets to the icemaker.

We actually ordered the part but the night before we got it we decided to trouble shoot and vacuum behind the fridge. We cleaned it real well and viola it worked good as new. We were able to return the part.

My fridge (Whirlpool) has an ice maker located in the bottom freezer and water dispenser on the fridge door. When the water dispenser is pushed, water to ice maker dispenses at the same time. Does anyone know why it happens? (The water line is just installed.)

I have a Frigidaire double door and it makes ice but does not dispense water from the dispenser, so I’m suspecting that it’s the control behind the dispenser, water comes into the filter, so I know water is there, I believe it’s after the filter.. please send me a reply 😊 thank you

I'm thinking my water line is frozen, I put string trimmer string up the water tube and it goes in about 18" and then hits a blockage. I have the freezer contents in my chest freezer and a heater pointed at the door with it open. The ice working means the pressure, water inlet, and filter (replaced that first they don't mention that being a potential cause)are fine. Only the switch or just that part of the board could be bad. (The board is unlikely). AND>.......45 minutes later shut door (must be shut), and tiny little sliver ice cubes plopped out and I'm back in business.

I have a KitchenAid side by side. The Icemaker works and makes ice, so I am getting water. But neither ice or water will dispense from the door dispensers. The augur motor for the ice despenser does not seem to turn on when I press the handle. The frreezer door swith seems to work, because the light in the freezer goes off when I push it in. So, I think the problem is in the control panel. Anyone have ideas?

I have to say this is the sorriest refrigerator I have ever owned. We had the entire compressor go bad in less than 3 years. We have mold growing on the seals around the doors. The ice maker has been replaced 3 times. We were told there was a class action suit regarding this model (no, we were not advised by LG so we are stuck with this POS). Now the ice maker is not working again. I refuse to spend another dollar on this POS...and will NEVER buy an LG appliance again.
@barbbuchwald37035 жыл бұрын
Oh, and 3 years after the compressor was replaced, I received an email from LG customer service asking how my service call was handled and was I please with their service. EXCUSE ME? You can only imagine how I responded. Customer Service is as bad as the appliances.
