Thank you for an excellent video that helped me troubleshoot and fix my washer. It was indeed the switch. It came in at 1.27ohm and the new one came in at 2.25. After installing it I had the satisfaction of seeing it go into spin like it should have. I'm an avid do-it-yourself-er. -Elisa

My switch tested at 1.7 K Ohms, but I ordered and installed the new switch anyway, it was only $30 and came with a new door striker (looks like a fork). Five minute install, fixed problem.

What is going on here? My meter measure around 50k resistance. Why is mine so different? Are our meters measuring different things? I'm definitely on ohms

I see that you have repaired it, but how did you determine the door switch was the problem before replacing it. How exactly did you know the low ohms reading was significant and the cause of the problem? Or perhaps, did you shotgun the part and then find the significance?

I brought a new washer door lock assembly and latch because the washer would fill up with water, but the door would not lock causing the washer not to work. After replacing the switch on the door and the latch the door still not wanting to lock, any ideas? I've already tested the switch and it's fine. Help please I have a Frigidaire Affinity front loader washer.

Update. Still having the same problem. 6 minutes into the spin cycle, it doesn't count down. Different speeds on what spin I do have. Eventually it does count down, but may take several minutes. There came a point when it wouldn't count down so I started taking the wet cloths out. Power was off. There was one article of clothing stuck on the top of the drum(front loader) so I starting spinning the drum by hand to bring the piece to the bottom. All of a sudden all lights and sounds went off for a few seconds. Never touch a button. Machine starting working after that. After several loads of working properly, it's starting to get stuck at 6 mins. Again. If it stays on 6 minutes again, I'll try and spin the drum again to get it to finish counting down, and see if the first time I did it, was a coincidence.
