yea and the 90s too i think they actually tried to make a 3d vr version of the internet in the 90s. but they quickly found out that was a bad idea and not very practical having to physically gab files at 10 fps in 240p and dial up. but i think it inspired all these 2000s movies

This is one of those DCOMs that sticks with you. If not for the story, then the underline message about chasing perfection instead of accepting what's real and right in front of you. I especially liked the conversation between Roscoe and his dad, and what Loretta said to Samantha near the end. "Samantha you get to be the dreamer, but all I'll ever be is the dream". You don't get powerful lines like that in movies made for kids and young teens anymore.

I really enjoyed that aspect of the movie, how he realized the artificial girl of his dreams will never take the place of a real girl with real emotions. At the same time it doesn't invalidate Loretta's side of the story, who wanted to be seen as more than just a girlfriend. So the ending, where Roscoe and Sam get together and Loretta gets her freedom is a happy ending for all three characters. A lot of movies don't strike the right balance between the characters for their ending, and some characters get left in the dust. Pixel Perfect does that.

The whole soundtrack was one of the best from DCOMs. With "Perfectly" and "When the Rain Falls" how can it not be. "Nothing's Wrong With Me" still pops into my mind from time to time. I hope that Disney does another DCOM series airing like it did years ago where they aired them all over a period of a month.

One of the screenwriters of this film was Neal Shusterman, a YA author of some prominent series like "Scythe" and "Unwind.". I'd like to think some of the deeper questions and Loretta moments were his contribution.

I watched this movie back in high school, I enjoyed it because it was a movie about the pop music industry tries to push phony people for their good appearance! I used to love this movie! I remember hearing Loretta sing the last line of Notice Me with a high pass filter during the "live performance" and thinking it was super cool because she's a hologram and can do her own vocal effects and such. It also sent me on a long crusade to find out the effect was called a high pass because I started hearing it in other songs and didn't know what it was. It was just "the Pixel Perfect voice" to me growing up.

I miss a lot of the old tv disney movies, even stevens movie, smart house, life size, luck of the irish, the 13th year, the little vampire, underwraps, twitches, etc, etc. The early to mid 2000's was a time to be alive. Pixel Perfect lowkey predicted Hatsune Miku and AI, but in all seriousness I feel the movie covered a lot of deeper tones, I still remember a scene where his father reflects on his marriage and how his expectations for the perfect person in his life ruined his chances in finding love, basicly holding people to high standards of perfection when we are imperfect beings only leads to disconnection and isolation

I remember watching this as a kid and being really emotionally affected by it - I really liked Loretta and I remember feeling so bad for her that she wasn’t “real” and couldn’t feel the rain. I loved watching this movie with my cousin at the time. It was like the kid-friendly version of the movie “S1M0NE”. Same plot that also used a holographic singer/actress that the world thought was real. I thought it was crazy how both movies predicted the rise & global fame of Hatsune Miku! 😱

I remember watching this on tv and being so puzzled. The brain thing, how it predicted some things and other things doesn't make sense at all. It was one of the series that taught me English.

I always thought of Pixel Perfect as S1M0NE for kids. I wouldn't call it a classic or a favorite of mine, but it wasn't bad at all. It did try to have more gravitas than the typical DCOM, and I admire that attempt. I'd rather that than what DCOMs eventually became.

While this theme was imperfect, I liked the feminist themes in this movie. I liked how they comment on how insulting it is to take features that a man deems as perfect instead of focusing on their qualities. The record company does what they are still doing now. Replacing real people with AI, but still using them for entertainment. As a woman, Loretta has no voice in making her own decisions. As AI, they don’t see her as a person either, just an entity which can also apply to women too. The other side of that is Sam which is experiencing something similar. She would have to change herself and be silent while being replaced with someone deemed as perfect. While Rosco is not attracted to her at first, he still uses specific parts of her in Loretta. It feels like she is not a person. I like how Loretta and Sam in the coma dream can see how they are the same which is personified of Loretta being in Sam. I maybe overanalyzing all of this, but why I still love this movie.

I was really religious as a kid, So I tended to interpret things through that. At the end, I thought that Loretta died and went to heaven when the lighting struck her, so when she came back to watch them she was an angel showing her friends she was alright. I'm sure I was reading too much into it. But I liked that implication through a Christian context that Loretta was enough of a real person and a good person that she earned a spot in the afterlife. Even though Christianity wasn't a focal point or theme of this story.
