Fabulous stuff, many thanks! Just catching up on a couple of weeks worth of vids after an adventure of my own. In the spirit of your "illogical" route here, a few days ago I managed to extend a simple journey from Zürich to Milan into a thrillingly idiotic itinerary of 11 trains, 2 cable cars and a boat (all included in the good old Swiss day saver for CHF52!) 🤣P.S. Lincoln Cathedral is a beauty imho, as is Peterborough's.

Nice video. Those trains are much nicer than the cattle trucks that we used to see in this area but some of the interiors are worn out. I hope they keep those excellent luggage racks after refurbishment. This is probably my most familiar train route, along with the one that criss-crosses it to go to Nottingham. It's a shame that this line isn't used more. As you've discovered, the Lincoln-Sleaford section is the busiest and most trains shuttle backwards and forwards over this section only. Unfortunately, trains aren't timed in such a way that you could easily use it to commute to Peterborough. Back in the late 80s, I used this as a way to travel from Leicester by changing at Peterborough. This wasn't always slower than changing to the Skegness line at Nottingham. In the 80s, many of the Peterborough trains continued to Ely and Cambridge. I once made that journey, purely for the sake of travelling as far as possible from Sleaford without a change of train. Over the years there have been proposals for open access operators to use the line for London-bound services but they have never come to anything.

@@stephenc6648 thanks so much for that extra information. I really appreciate it. I was just musing this morning that when the weather gets nice i could camp in Lincolnshire and travel some more of these lines... and maybe even make the time to visit Lincoln properly! @JohnnyHooverTravels
@JohnnyHooverTravels Күн бұрын
@@rogermarsh2763 as doing the whole journey is essentially daft (as it is quicker and cheaper on LNER), then the important thing is the intermediate journeys. It was pretty busy around Lincoln and another commenter has reported that the locals are pressing for three car trains instead of two because of overcrowding at times. So, on balance, i think the service has a function and should continue. Thanks for watching and asking questions 👍👍
