Starting a rather complex and controversial topic about the history of the Slavs, which, I've put it off, decided to make an INTRODUCTORY VIDEO. To clarify key terms and pay attention to common misconceptions and disagreements I see in the comments to the videos and more. In the analysis of ethnogenesis, ethnic community is a historically emerged group of people with a common ethnicity. There are several concepts and theories of ethnicity.
An ethnic community or a nation composed of ethnic groups. An ethnic group is a category of people who identify themselves with each other on the basis of similarities, such as common origin, language, history, society, culture, etc. They identify themselves and others on the principle of "friend-foe". Ethnicity is usually inherited. Membership in an ethnic group is usually determined by a common cultural heritage, origin or myth of origin, history, language or dialect, appearance, style of dress, stereotype of behavior, art and even cuisine. As well as symbolic systems such as religion, mythology and rituals. Through language shift, acculturation, adoption and religious conversion, individuals or groups can sometimes leave one ethnic group and become part of another. Ethnic groups from the same historical population often continue to speak related languages and have a similar gene pool. And some scientists suggest to understand ethnos as a category of social psychology. Namely, as a stable ethnic solidarity in uniting people between generations, on the basis of living together in a certain territory, a common language, culture and self-consciousness.
