Lisa Bilyeu is currently the president of Impact Theory and a co-founder of Quest Nutrition, one of the fastest growing companies ever, and now a billion dollar brand. Seem like a badass? She totally is, but she wasn't always that way. Lisa grew up in a time and place that made her think her only role was to get married and be a good wife. In this talk, she tells the tale of her journey from her roots to the kick-ass serial entrepreneur she is today. Lisa Bilyeu is the President of Impact Theory, a studio that is dedicated to expand people’s vision of wellness to a 360-degree view that encompasses body and mind, Lisa, with her husband Tom, created Impact Theory to help people develop the skills they will need to improve themselves and the world. Within the company, Lisa hosts the Women of Impact and Sheroic Podcasts. Lisa was also a Co-founder of Quest Nutrition, a billion-dollar nutrition company. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

You nailed your talk! Bravo!! Very inspiring Lisa and I can relate to my family's & my limiting beliefs, my beginning as a homemaker abroad, then doing a Master's, learning a foreign language from scratch, climbing the banking corporate ladder and now stepping back to plan for a new independent entrepreneurial journey for a much deserved work-life balance. Women of Impact rock and I admire Tom for his genuine support. All the best!

The vast majority of mother's don't take their work seriously. They are mother's only part way. Whatever you do, do it all the way. A real mother has to do a ton of research in many fields to do everything possible to foster the development of their children to the fullest.

Can we stop using the job „housewife“ as a degrading term, as if caretaking isn‘t a worthy or respectable job? There is always this toxic narrative around how housewives and stay-at-home-moms are somehow unambitious and have yet to reach their full potential, when perhaps they actually like prioritizing their family. Every woman should have the choice to do what she wants to do, yet somehow only women that act traditionally masculine are receiving public accolades for being „bosses“, being tough, being ambitious in the corporate world etc. Maybe if we valued skills such as empathy and caretaking more over financial success, we would be raising better human beings than we currently are today.
