He is right. In a very competitive social environment it feels to me that people are always unsure about their social standing and kind of afraid that they might not match up to the others. So they start to brag how good they are and I recognize it as fear and uncertainty in themselves. In societies where people feel accepted just as they are, these behaviors do not come up so prominently.

@alfreddaniels3817...Anyone who behaves like that is stupid! I rejected that as a child.

Why I love the Tibetan people. It's a rain of blessings now that the Dharma has come to the land of the Red Man as Guru Rinpoche said. Elsewhere too. J Khrishnamurti scolded competition. It's a kind of war.

Agree completely with what Rinpoche says about competition, had never so much though about this but now i view this video for the second time i see that much of my behavior is competition driven. It is so crazy!

I think most people (including Buddhists) don't realize just how insecure they deeply feel, because the ego fundamentally doesn't exist, and it knows it, so there's a constant comparing and trying to reinforce itself by doing things that make one feel alive and achieving goals that are supposed to ease that insecurity... Ego makes everything about reinforcing itself, so it's constantly competing with others

@@omahhumvajragurupadmasiddhihum You don't need to overcomplicate it. Anyone who goes through the world like this is immature. Very easily!

Not thought about loneliness as competition Difference between being alone and loneliness Loneliness mostly I feel comes from within If we have compassion for our friendship and think the best we are never truely lonely It’s is an attitude and resentment and having our ego drive the thinking
